One afternoon, Sayre was walking through central park on her way home when she felt someone was following her. Turning around, she saw nothing but the normal people walking through the park. Even though nothing was suspicious, she couldn’t shake the feeling.

“Are you okay miss?” A blonde boy was standing next to her, his golden eyes wide. “You look frightened.”

“I-I’m fine.” She stammered “I just freaked myself out a little.” Sayre saw a flash out of the corner of her eye, and looked over to see… People? No not people. People don’t have wings, people don’t glow. She whipped her head around to look at the boy and stopped cold. He was the same as the rest of them.

“I, um, I have to go now.” She squeaked out, and then turned and ran as fast as she could.

“Wait! Sayre!” The boy shouted, and she looked back at him. He had his arm raised and when he realized she wouldn’t stop he chased after her. When she got to her street she slowed slightly. But when she looked around, she saw more of the glowing people. People who glowed like the sun, and some who were edged in shadows. But one stood out. He had black streaks in his golden aura and had cold, flat black eyes. When he continued to draw closer, she sprinted to her apartment building, rushed through the front door and slammed it behind her.

“Sayre Jean Hudson!” Her mother screamed from the living room. “Get in here NOW!”

“what?” Sayre questioned, staring at Jennelyn. Her mother was practically the opposite of her. While Sayre had Blonde hair, color changing eyes and was tall, Jennelyn was Red-haired, black eyed and short.

“Have you seen the glow?”Jennelyn’s question stopped Sayre in her tracks. “People who glow with wings?”

“Um, mom what do you mean?”

“Answer the questions.” She snapped.

“Yes, why? Am I going crazy?” Sayre smirked sarcastically, her mood going dark, and so did the sky outside.

“Leave now. Go to your bedroom.” Jennelyn replied. “That all I needed.”

Gladly, Sayre thought, and slunk away to her room. The only color in the entire apartment was there and that was a single red rose sitting on her night stand. Sayre paced her small room a hundred times, then couldn’t take it anymore and walked slowly back to the park. She spotted an unoccupied bench when she arrived and headed straight for it. Then the blonde boy from that afternoon showed up.

“What, are you stalking me?” she asked rudely.

“Sayre…-” he started, but she cut him off.

“there’s another thing. How do you know my name when I don’t know yours?”

“all of us know you.” He stated simply and started walking away. “By the way, the names Will. Will Redfern.”

Sayre smiled, but it quickly faded as she though of the other thing he said.

“What do you mean by ‘all of us know you?’”

“It means we’ve all been searching for you.”he told her, then walked away. Bewildered, Sayre made her way home for the second time.

That night, she slept restlessly, always on the edge of consciousness. At one point in the night, she saw four golden light float through her window.

“Is she the one?”

“Maybe, she looks so much like the Queen.”

“Lets just hope she believes.”

High tinkling voices came from the lights, and they left as quickly as the came. Sayre continued on to dreams that made more sense.

What Sayre thought was a dream, was four summer fey sent by the king to be sure it truly was his daughter. While the faeries were checking on Sayre, Meliorn was battling with himself. He knew his betrayal would soon be too hard to conceal from his court. In a technical sense, he belonged no where and when a fey has no court, they have no power. It had taken fifteen and a half years, but he would finally tell the king.
