Hiya, Angel here! The lore can be a little complex, so I would like to give a little context -
1. Not everyone in the "human" army is "human". The term "human" in this context refers to beings who are capable of performing simple magic, or cannot perform magic at all.
2. Some humans can perform intense magic due to a genetic mutation (and still be considered humans due to it having no other effect on them). Treasure and Bernard are part of this category.
3. The intensity of your magic abilities affects your appearance. Creatures like elves are capable of performing magic, but it does not overly affect their appearance and as such they are allowed to live amongst humans. The majority of humans do not warm well to anything that doesn't look like them, so many creatures are ostracised.
4. Creatures capable of intense magic often have human disguises to either live with humans or spy.
That's about it! Well, I hope you enjoy reading my silly little book!
