It was only the first day of the hero course students' internships and I felt so lost. The conversation Yami and I had about Tenya seeking revenge kept running through my mind. Tenya assured me I had nothing to worry about but he'd been acting very distant. He took an internship in Hosu City, the last place the Hero Killer was located and where his brother nearly died. I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to him.
I'd survived the first day of school without him there, though that was mainly due to Yami and Shinso dragging me along with them and shaking me anytime a teacher tried to get my attention. I was too worried to focus on anything.
"Hey! Look out!" Yami snapped and gently picked me up as I nearly set myself on fire getting too close to the gas stove as Yami was cooking. He spun and set me down away from the stove.
"Ah! Sorry Yami!" I squeaked.
"Go sit on the couch and don't move." He chuckled and shoved me away.
"Okay." I trudged toward the sofa just as I saw something drop from the ceiling in my peripheral vision.
My first thought was Principal Nezu but when I looked closer I realized it was a very large spider that was now nearly touching my face. I let out a panicked shriek and momentarily turned into a very uncoordinated boxer as I flailed around in a panic.
My apartment door suddenly burst open at the same time Yami ran to my rescue. Yami gently caught my elbow in his hand avoiding a black eye for him and most likely a broken wrist for me since he had such a hard head. A second hand had appeared catching my other arm, keeping me from punching myself in the face in my flailing. And a third caught the spider and removed it. I stared in awe at Present Mic and Aizawa who'd just burst into my apartment and helped save me from the spider.
"We're losing that bet." Present Mic muttered under his breath as he gently moved my hand away from my face while Aizawa shooed the spider out of my apartment.
"Mr. Aizawa, Present Mic, what are you two doing here?" I asked curiously.
"We did say we'd be dropping in from time to time to check on you." Mr. Aizawa sighed.
Realizing there was no more danger, Yami returned to the kitchen with a shrug.
"At least it was just a spider and no real danger." Present Mic chuckled.
"You missed the part where she tried to set herself on fire." Yami noted.
"Yami!" I groaned.
"Don't come into my kitchen again." Yami smirked.
"It's my kitchen." I protested weakly.
"Hey, Tara, stay out of the kitchen." Present Mic begged.
I dejectedly dropped onto the sofa, "okay."
"I really think she might be cursed." Present Mic muttered to Aizawa.
Yami paused in his cooking, looking thoughtful as he pondered Present Mic's words, "is that it Ghost Girl?"
"I d-don't think so." I squeaked.
Yami chuckled.
"Alright, everything looks in order here, at least one of you is capable enough to keep Tara unharmed." Aizawa indicated Yami causing my roommate to snicker.
"Uh, Mr. Aizawa, wait." I called as he and Present Mic headed for the door.
He paused.
"Have you heard from any of your students?" I asked nervously.
"She means one in particular, her knight in shining armor." Yami commented.
"Y-Yami!" I whined.
"I haven't heard anything from Iida." Mr. Aizawa noted.
"Oh." I tried not to look as let down as I felt.
"They're all interning with Pros, I'm sure he'll be fine." Present Mic piped up.
I bit my lip. I had a bad feeling. "R-right."
Mr. Aizawa frowned. "What is it?"
I hesitated.
"She thinks her Boy Scout in shining armor might do something stupid like go after the guy who crippled his brother and nearly killed Tara." Yami spoke up.
I flinched. I hadn't wanted to say it aloud but I was worried about that possibility. It had been all I could think about ever since Tenya told me where he was interning.
"He's not that dumb." Present Mic tried to reassure me.
Mr. Aizawa was quiet. "I'll check in."
"Th-thanks."
His tired eyes fell on me and he fixed me with a menacing look, "don't YOU do anything dumb."
"Yeah, Tar-Bear one more injury and I'm forcing you into a bubble safety suit." Yami threatened me.
"EEP!" I panicked at the thought.
"That's not a bad idea." Present Mic seemed to be considering it.
"Ah! N-no thanks!" I waved my arms frantically only succeeding in hitting my elbow on the end table with enough force my arm went numb. "Ow."
"Good grief." Present Mic groaned.
"I'm okay!" I reassured them all with a smile.
"Definitely cursed." Present Mic and Yami remarked simultaneously.
The teachers took their leave and Yami finished making dinner before heading to check on his mom. While I was alone I called Stacey.
"Tara! Are you alright, you aren't injured again, are you?" Stacey panicked as she picked up the call.
"Ah, no I'm okay. I'm sorry for bothering you, I was just thinking about getting some shots in Hosu." I piped up softly hoping my voice didn't betray me.
"Hosu?" Staccy asked unsure. "I don't think that's a good idea, Tara."
"I'll be careful, I can get some shots of the Hero Killer."
Stacey pondered it. "That would definitely give us a leg up on the competition, but he almost killed you Tara, are you sure he won't be on high alert for quirks like yours?"
I bit my lip, "please."
Stacey sighed, "alright, I'll make arrangements."
My shadow suddenly flared and Yami stepped out of it shooting me a dark look, "for two." He grumbled into my phone as he took it away from me.
"You're coming with me?" I asked in awe.
"Obviously, you're on a suicide mission and you're not leaving me behind, you're my least hated person." He grumbled.
