Incoming call...................................................................................................................................
"Hello?" I hesitantly picked up the phone.
"Hey Aaliyah," Alexander's warm voice greeted me on the other end.
"Alexander," I whispered in reply, my voice trembling as I fought back tears.
"Are you okay? What's the matter?" His tone shifted to one of genuine concern and understanding.
I took a deep breath before answering, "I just can't stand my mom. It feels like she doesn't care about me at all; all she does is bring me down," I managed to say between sobs.
"Why don't you come over? We can hang out and you can talk to me about it," he suggested, his voice comforting and inviting.
I hesitated for a moment, unsure whether I should confide in Alexander, the person I secretly admired, or if it would be crossing professional boundaries. Deep down, I want to spend time with him and share the burdens weighing on my heart, knowing that his presence would bring solace and understanding.
"I hope I'm not intruding," I finally managed to say, my inner doubts resonating in the ensuing silence.
Despite the internal struggle, the idea of opening up to Alexander felt like a lifeline, an opportunity to release the pain I had carried alone for far too long. The possibility of pouring out my emotions to him, seeking comfort and support in his company, evoked a whirlwind of emotions within me - hope, vulnerability, and a longing for connection.
"No, it's alright. I want you to come over. I don't have any plans today," he replied.
"I'll be there in about fifteen minutes."
"Alright, see you soon."
As soon as I reached the house, I confidently walked up to the door and gave it a firm knock. To my surprise, the door swung open, revealing Alexander without a shirt on. I couldn't help but admire his well-toned physique for a moment, although I made sure to keep my expression neutral. Despite the tempting sight in front of me, I quickly reminded myself that I wasn't ready for any intimate advances.
"Apologies for that, please come inside. I didn't expect you to arrive so soon," Alexander said, disappearing briefly to grab a shirt. "No worries at all," I replied with a smile, stepping inside and closing the door securely behind me. I made my way to the comfortable couch, settled in, and eagerly awaited Alexander's return, feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement.
Alexander returned after a short while, now dressed appropriately. There was something about his undeniable charm that captivated me, no matter the circumstances.
"Sorry if that kiss caught you off guard. I know it wasn't the best move, considering you're my boss. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," I began, feeling the need to address our previous interaction.
"No need to apologize. I don't regret it," Alexander replied confidently, his gaze unwavering.
His response left me confused, prompting me to inquire further. "What do you mean by that?"
He sat down beside me, moving closer until there was barely any space between us, and then he leaned in. "Ever since you walked into my office for the interview, I've wanted to kiss you," he confessed. As I sat there, his words swirled in my mind, stirring up a mix of excitement and uncertainty. I had longed to hear those words for so long, but a lingering fear remained – does he genuinely like me, or is he just using me like Shyla's cousin?
"So, you're saying that you're attracted to me and only me?" I reply softly, my eyes shifting down to my lap. He meets my gaze as he leans back on the couch, his words hitting me like a whirlwind of emotions. "I've actually been attracted to you for a while now. I tried to distance myself, thinking it would lessen my feelings, but it only made them stronger. Your unwavering kindness in the face of my rudeness drew me in. Your strength and grace captured my heart. I have so much respect for you, and I genuinely like you. It's not just about your physical beauty – it's everything about you that I adore. Unlike those who only see you for your looks, I value you for who you are, for the depth of your character."
His confession overwhelms me, and I can't help but stand up from the couch, my steps restless as I try to process his heartfelt words. Emotions swirl inside me – hope, doubt, longing, fear. I won't let myself be naive or deceive myself into believing in a future that might not exist. But here he is, laying his feelings bare, expressing his desire for me.
"Alex, I feel the same way about you. I get it if you're not interested in anything serious, but I'm not into casual flings either. If you're not looking for a meaningful connection, then maybe we're not a good match, and that's totally fine. I won't force something that isn't there. But just so you know, I do see a possible future with you."
"I'm really happy you mentioned that because I'm also searching for something serious. I never thought I'd be interested in you, but there's something intriguing about you that makes me want to learn more. I'm curious about what goes through your mind at night. I want you, and I'm not afraid to admit it now."
I moved in closer and planted a kiss on him, and he reciprocated by embracing me tightly, drawing me nearer. My stomach fluttered as if it were my very first kiss. This was unlike any kiss I'd experienced before; we were perfectly in tune. I wrapped my arms around his neck, clinging to him. His hands slid down to my lower back, causing me to jump a little.
He broke away from the kiss and asked, "Are you alright?"
