The heavy covers of my oversized bed seemed to heavy to be called blankets. I replayed today in scene over and over in my head. How much I wanted him to kiss me. How I wanted to melt like the marshmallows at his mercy. He would be coming over tomorrow after school. The thought struck me hard; Jason Cassidy was coming over to MY house so I could tell him all my secrets. In my private mind I wanted it to be a date. But it wasn’t. And I knew that he didn’t feel that way about me. I had only known him for 1 day but I felt like we had been friends for years.

The last time I checked my alarm clock it was 3:42 AM. My eyelids were heavy under the weight of sleep deprivation. I finally fell into a sleep filled with images of my father with bloody hands and Jason touching my face. My dad came into my room his face cut open and bleeding Jason at his side. They were trying to tell me something.....but I couldn’t understand. They were pointing to my window. I looked to my window and then HE jumped through, shattered glass covered the cold wood of my bedroom floor. I screamed as he took a knife out if his pocket. He held it to my throat and cut into my wind pipe.

I woke up in bed sweat slick across my forehead eyes wide open. I felt immense pressure on my tongue; I realized that I was biting so hard that my tongue was bleeding. The metallic salty taste of blood ran down my throat and made me gag. My clock read 6:18 AM. Of course my parents wouldn’t come to see of someone was kidnapping or murdering me right in the comfort of their own home. Because they didn’t care and were too doped up on sleeping pills to even hear me. I decided to get up and take a shower even when I was like a walking zombie.

I threw myself into the warm water of the shower and let the skinny rivers of water make wet patterns on my skin. My mind drifted as I though about Jason and my "wanna-be date" with him after school. Standing in the constant stream of water was comforting, enveloping my body with warmth. What seemed like an eternity, I shut off the water only slightly until it got uncomfortably cold and stepped into the stream of ice water to wake my self up.

Walking through the hectic parking lot, shaggy blond hair and bright blue eyes caught the corner of eye. Jason. It was the only person in the freaking world that looked like that!

"Hey Charlotte!" he called from his parking place near the gym.

"Hey!" I called back and waved to him to catch up to me.

“how’s it going?" he asked me walking briskly to algebra our shoulders almost touching. As the wind caught in the sky his natural perfume stirred in the air around the two of us. I inhaled deeply then sighed too loudly.

"Charlotte?" he asked finally looking at me.

"What?! Oh...uh ...ya sorry. Good how are you?" I replied my mind boggled.

"We still on for after school?" he asked his voice rising at the end of his sentence.

" ya, we shouldn’t go to my house though." I added quickly.

"Why?" he replied puzzled.

"Um.. Well my room is A MESS!" I said over pronouncing the last two words.

"I think I handle it Charlotte." he said with a smile meant for the gods. I love how he said my name drawing out the "ollete" making me sound like a princess.

"Ok.. But I’m telling you now that I warned you" I said returning the smile.

School passed in a blur of papers lectures and yelling red-faced teachers. It wasn’t long before the dismissal bell rang setting the ragged teenagers free. During history I told Jason to meet me at the flag pole. I walked as quickly as I could hoping he wouldn’t see my eagerness. And there he was, looking as gorgeous as ever under the riveted shadows of the flag a big lopsided grin plastered on his perfect face. As I approached him I felt my cheeks flush scarlet red as he waved to me.
