Tadeas became aware again to the sounds of quiet voices, but he couldn't understand them. He found he was on his side, propped up by his arms which were taped behind his back at the wrists, on top of his wings. There was a band of tape across his chest about elbow height, wrapped all the way around his torso and arms. His ankles were taped, too. Stuffed in his mouth was some fabric, which was held in place with more tape. This gag was intended to keep anyone from hearing him. He appeared to be in some sort of basement room. The floors were unadorned cement, the walls as well. There were no windows. Standing around were men in black pants, black shirts, and black vests with "Hell's Angels" adorning them. The leader of the gang noticed Tadeas was awake and strode over.

"Just have to wait until the library closes before we can get you out of here," as if he was doing Tadeas a favor.

He turned behind him and fiddled with something on one of the many boxes stacked in the room. When he faced Tadeas again, he had another autoinjector. Tadeas frowned, and quickly focused on the device. As the leader was walking back to Tadeas, the injector spontaneously activated, shooting liquid across half the room. The human looked at the now-useless injector for a moment, then threw it down in disgust. He turned back to the box stack, but said something in Sverigic to the man closest to him.

The other man walked up to Tadeas and kicked him in the stomach. Tadeas curled around the blow and retched into the gag. While the Draik was distracted, the gang leader approached and slammed a new autoinjector into his thigh. Tadeas sagged as he felt the drug begin to take effect. The leader looked thoughtful.

When Tadeas was conscious next, he was still in the basement room. One of the gang members noticed he was awake and called to someone behind him. Tadeas strained to see, but couldn't quite turn his head far enough. He heard more voices, a chair scrape and a female whimper. Female?! The gang leader walked into view dragging a female human by the upper arm. Her wrists were taped together in front of her. He thought he recognized her, and then it came to him. She was the librarian who had tricked him into the back room!

The leader spoke viciously to Tadeas, showing another autoinjector, "This is my last injector, but before there is any funny business, if something odd happens, something unexplainable," he dragged the librarian forward a step, "this one gets cut! Got it?!"

Tadeas nodded slowly once. The gang leader shoved the woman to the ground near Tadeas' head and went about his business.

"Your friends are looking for you," she whispered ever so quietly, in a voice that trembled with fear.

Tadeas hoped they would find out about the missing librarian, too, if they didn't already know.

One of the large gang members appeared in front of Tadeas, bent down, and hoisted the Draik over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. His wings stuck up into the air, brushing the ceiling. It caused quite a problem when they tried to get through the doorway, but eventually they managed by having the man carrying Tadeas walk backwards through the opening. Then the Draik's wings could be pressed down by the door header as they went through. Tadeas would have been more embarrassed if he hadn't secretly enjoyed how much trouble they were having.

Being carried over the man's shoulder was painful as the human's shoulder bones dug into his gut. The blood was pooling in his head and his vision was darkening. Tadeas wasn't sure how they got there, but the next thing he knew, he was being thrown into the back of a mid-sized SUV that had one seat put down. They managed to arrange him in such a way that he fit, and they could close the hatch. They put the librarian in the remaining back seat while the gang leader took the front seat and one of the members drove.
