Yom Cimil laughed loudly and the minions around Tadeas jumped into action. While he was still stupefied, several grabbed his legs and non-dominant arm. One grabbed his knife arm and twisted it violently until Tadeas had to drop his blade. Then it twisted that arm behind his back.

Tadeas was snapped out of his stupor by the pain and focused on the thing he pulled from his pocket. It was a large rock he had taken from the crumbling wall in the city. Focusing hard, he made it shoot from his hand across the room until it was behind Yom Cimil, then speed toward his back. The rock bounced off an invisible shield and clattered against the far wall.

"Tch, Tch, Tch," the false god chided, "Can't let you do that again."

Tadeas grimaced. That was their best attack! That's what they spent the last three weeks looking for!

"It will be harder without you two as conveniently bound together as those two are," Yom Cimil waved in Satiya and Husani's general direction, "but with my power fit to burst, I think I can manage."

Ava looked at the Shadow in horror. He was going to curse them with the same magic-sealing curse! Thinking hard, she decided to take a gamble.

"Lem'ni'al!" she yelled.

Yom Cimil froze.

"Lem'ni'al, I command you by your true name to release us!"

Yom Cimil immediately waved his arm and all the minions in the room vanished. Ava scrambled to her knees, fished in her satchel, found and threw the copper mirror to Tadeas. Tadeas squeezed the relic in his hands and time stopped. Itzamna strolled into view.

"Please take away all of Yom Cimil's power!" Tadeas requested.

Itzamna smiled, "It is so."

Time moved again. Yom Cimil staggered like he had been slapped.

"What did you do?!" he roared at Ava and Tadeas.

"Let's just say the Maya gods were not happy with you," Ava said cryptically.

Yom Cimil frowned and a portal opened beneath him.

"Tadeas! Quickly!" Ava called.

"Ava!" Satiya cried.

Ava and Tadeas flipped around to see Shadow portals pulling Satiya and Husani in as well. Tadeas reached into his pocket for more rocks, and Ava ran towards Yom Cimil, snagging her dagger from the floor where she had dropped it. She thrust the blessed blade into the nearest edge of the portal under the false god. He screeched loudly and was quickly expelled from the portal, which disappeared. Ava looked behind her and saw Satiya and Husani were also freed from the portals. Yom Cimil roared again, bent down and smacked Ava away. She hit the nearby wall, hit her head and fell, unconscious.

"Ava!" all three winged people cried.

Yom Cimil paused, then said, "Well, while it seems I can't use my minions to knock you out, simple blunt force trauma works just fine."

The Shadow morphed his hands into larger, heavier-looking appendages and lunged at Tadeas. Tadeas jumped back, narrowly missing getting a fist to the head, but leaving his blade behind on the floor. Satiya and Husani ran to Ava, wishing they could use magic to heal her.

Tadeas was trying to get the rocks out of his pocket, but it was hard while dodging Yom Cimil's attacks. He could use the relic on his arm, but what would he ask for? More rocks? He could command Yom Cimil with his true name... if he could remember it. Probably best to just focus on getting the rocks out of his pocket without getting smacked.
