Bethany was waiting outside. They usually meet right after the last bell rings to catch the public bus. Kora was so nervous about her meeting with Kenneth that Bethany thought she was sick.
"Are you okay?" She asked with genuine concern.
"Kenneth asked me to meet him in the parking lot today," Kora said.
"What?! Why?" Bethany said a little bit too loudly.
Before she could get into it, he pulls up behind them in his BMW. He had music blasting in what looked like a brand-new convertible.
"Hi Bethany, you mind if I talked to Kora for a minute?" He asked gently.
Bethany stared at him for a second, trying to wrap her head around his sudden interest in Kora.
"Yeah, sure," she said nervously.
"What are you waiting for, hop in!" He said.
Kora awkwardly opens the door and sits in the car. She waves at Bethany through the side mirror. Who just can't believe her eyes.
"Can we just get this over with, so I can go catch the bus?" Kora says impatiently.
"No worries, I can drop you home," He said calmly. As if this is just another typical day. Kora starts to feel bad for leaving Bethany standing there in shock.
"I wanted to talk to you about my sister" he interrupts her train of thought.
Suddenly, Kora realized what all of this was about. He wanted to talk about what happened in the library earlier today. Was it that big a deal? It's not like Elena is a nice person. Of course, she's cheating on her boyfriend with a random guy.
"Elena told me what happened" Kenneth turns to look at her.
"It was none of my business, I just left after I saw them," Kora said straightforwardly.
Her indifference surprised him, and he stared at her a little bit. Kora is very pretty, which she saw as more a curse than a blessing. She wonders if people will take her seriously as a reporter with her fine facial features.
"Can you do me a favor, and keep what you saw to yourself?" He asked abruptly.
"Well, I wasn't planning on saying anything" she retorted.
"This school is all about reputation, what happens here can make or break our futures, I don't want a rumor spreading around about my sister." He continues.
Kora tries her best to stay calm, but she was getting really mad. She couldn't believe that this guy was confronting her about something his sister did. Shouldn't he be rebuking her? She thought to herself.
"Can you just drop me in front of the bus stop?" Kora said trying not to raise her voice.
"So, we have an understanding?" He asked her.
"Yeah, whatever, just let me off right here." She needed to get out of his car.
He slowly pulled over in front of the main entrance. Kenneth stared at her as she got out of the car. She was mad and he didn't want to push. Kora quickly walked away, hoping she'll never have to talk to him again.
