A few weeks passed. Kenneth is doing his best to avoid Kora. The leaves are starting to fall outside. It looks like it's going to be another beautiful Fall season in New England.

Kora loves this time of year. She loves wearing her cozy sweaters, drinking hot chocolate, and attending the yearly festival that happens every September. Bethany also loves Fall, but it's primarily because of Halloween. As a horror movie fanatic, she loves to wear her weird t-shirts when October comes around.

The bell rings, and it's lunchtime; everyone makes their way towards the cafeteria. Kenneth sees the two girls walking in and tries his best to avoid eye contact. Bethany nudges Kora to look towards him.

"See how he's ignoring us," she says.

Kora shrugs, eyeing the last of the chicken sandwiches.

"One moment he wants your attention, next he's ignoring you," Bethany says bitterly.

" Why do you care? He was just worried about his sister, and it's over," she responds.

After Kora told her everything that had happened, she couldn't believe how he was pretending nothing was wrong. What if Kora told everyone what she saw at the library? Kenneth is more trusting than she thought he was. Then again, what is he supposed to do? He can't force her friend not to say anything. Or can he?

Kora plops down like she usually does. As she's about to take a bite out of another mediocre school lunch, she hears her name on the other side of the cafeteria. It was Roger, shouting her name and walking towards her.

"Hi, you're Kora, right?" He asks, and she nods, trying to swallow her food. At this point, Kora is fed up with these people bothering her.

"What do you want?" She sniped at him.

"Whoa, relax, gorgeous", he continues. "I just wanted to check in. My boy Kenneth doesn't want to say anything, but he's worried about his sister."

"I told him I wouldn't tell anyone! Besides, it should be him having this conversation, not you." She says confidently. Kora can be so bold at times.

Roger nods and smiles. "Yeah, you're right, I'll tell him." He gets up and walks away before she can say anything else.

Bethany and Kora exchange looks. What just happened? They both thought.
