Volume 1: Who was He? 017

"Shoyu. That man goes by the name Shoyu. Although I am not sure whether or not that is his real name, a name given by his guardians..."

"So, you're saying this Shoyu guy is the thirsty swindler you were talking about?"

"Kei dear, are you alright? Who is Shoyu?"

"U-Uh, nothing mom! The side-effects of the medicine! Yes yes, I'm experiencing the side-effects of the m-medicine they gave me!"

"Is that so?" My mom grabbed my hand and placed it next it to her ear. Was she trying to hear my heartbeat? At the moment my heart was indeed throbbing pretty fast...what is this feeling...? "Your heartbeat seems odd..." Just then at the right moment a nurse walked inside the room to come check on me.
Surprisingly even the nurse agreed on its rapid throbbing all of a sudden to be odd.

"Ma'am, your daughter seems to be fine but I'm afraid her heart's throbbing seems to be quite unusual..."

"I-Is she going to be alright...?"

"Could you please wait outside? I'll do my checking on her and let you know immediately."

"Alright, please give her back to me in a good condition...I don't want anything horrible happening to my dear Kei anymore..." My mom really did care so much for me...I wonder if all mothers are actually like this towards their children.

My mom went outside and decided to wait for me. The nurse turned my way and stared at me in a strange manner. What's her deal? Could she be done with her checking already? She locked the door, came up to me and made me wear a dog muzzle. Is this woman crazy?! It took me some time to notice that even my hands were tied to the bed. The nurse looked at me with devious eyes, arching a brow.

"Aren't you one of those element users...?"

"Mmgrff, myes. I myam." I couldn't speak properly with the muzzle on. Did I just say yes?! I shouldn't have said that! I didn't mean to say that.

"Figured out already. I can guess it from that strange-looking necklace you got there on your neck." Come to think of it, Denis did mention that the accessories have a rhombus at their very center, has he never noticed my necklace at all...? How dumb could he be...even this nurse knows!

"Mrg, mho myar myou." Denis also did mention that the staff members at a certain hospital were fakes...could this be the hospital??? If so, was Jacob admitted here as well?! Wait, looking at the pattern, could it be that...

"You and that boy who was admitted here earlier a few days ago are both of the same breed."

"I suppose that was the boy's name. I don't remember very well..." She pulled me by my necklace and it seemed as if she really wanted to use curse words on me. "So, tell me...Keiko was it? Which element do you possess."

I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to spell out some letters...this muzzle sure is getting off all the information from me, isn't it? The nurse got on top of me on the bed. Am I getting sexually assaulted now?! What is this woman up to? She seemed to be sweating. The lights in the room turned red, she grabbed an ice pick from the table beside the bed. The ice pick had a peculiar shape. She raised it to a certain height and with extreme speed, pierced the very center of the gem of my necklace. It cracked-it actually cracked a little. She decided to pierce it a few more times to...shatter the gem to minute fragments? Is that what she is aiming for? The position she is in on top of me was extremely suggestive, even you'd get the wrong idea witnessing this bizarre scene. I wonder what my mom was doing outside....I was unable to talk properly...I do not sense Makkura's presence at all...it was talking to me just a while ago...

With the second pierce, I heard the door knocking. My mom was probably trying to open the door and get inside to know what absurd things were currently taking place here.
Makkura...Makkura...please come here, right now...I beg you...

Within a fraction of seconds, I felt the temperature going up rapidly...Makkura's incoming arrival never takes place with an increase in temperature, rather it takes place with a decrease in the temperature...then could it be that...?

"No worries, little one. I'll deal with this." The nurse was brutally thrown, hitting her back against the door, knocking it down. I immediately noticed my mom backing off at the right time to prevent herself from getting crushed by the nurse's burning body. Her front body was gruesome to look at...she had severe burns on the front and even her face was burnt to a crisp. I could also witness her heart throbbing rapidly. Burnsmith freed me. I was able to walk normally. I walked over to look at the nurse. Her entire front side was burnt to a crisp and her heart stopped throbbing. Even the usually red heart was also black now...

Iturned to notice my mom's traumatized face. She fell unconscious to the floor. Thishospital was a dangerous place to be in. I went back inside and grabbed the icepick.

"What are thou planning on doing now, Keiko."

"FindJacob and escape this place with him."

"Thou care about that human?"

"Idon't want the whole school to be spreading misinformation about his death or disappearance."

"Oooh, alright then little one. I've got thy back then."

"IsMakkura doing fine?"

"It sure is. It just needed some rest..."

"Alright."I stepped out of the room and Burnsmith carefully carried my mom in a safe,warm and fire emitting capsule. Not sure on how to describe it right...

"Shall we check the nearby rooms for that boy?"

"Yes,let's go." Looks like we've got ourselves in yet another cluttered situation.That's just how my fate is, huh? That's just how the universe plays cards onme, huh? I scoffed and tagged along with Burnsmith on our hunt to find Jacob.
