Jasper groaned in pain as he squeezed his eyes open, his body still limp on the floor. Excruciating pain shot through his body when he attempted to sit upright before collapsing back, his efforts in vain.
It took him another couple of seconds to finally realize why he was in such a gruesome situation. He was petrified when his brown eyes met Edward's black ones.
He was now wiggling, scrambling away toward the door that wouldn't budge.
"Don't try it," Edward had managed to discover the only wooden chair that somewhat had managed to avoid getting attacked by the plague residing in the apartment. He was still holding the same baseball bat on his lap as he sat on the chair, right in front of him. "I pulled the fire alarm. Turns out the building is as inhabitable as it gets. Perfect for junkies."
"I get it that you are all high and mighty. You've proved your point," he was leaning against the door now, his knees touching the ground. "Now leave me the fuck alone."
"That could be arranged," Edward chimed and he fisted Jasper's phone in his hand, handkerchief. "I was just waiting for you to get started on that. So shall we?"
Jasper's eyes narrowed on him as he watched Edward adjust the camera on his phone. "What the fuck you doing?" he barked.
"I want a confession," he was saying while zooming in on his face. "Benji must have filled you in."
"I didn't do anything," he spat, narrowing his eyes but looking away. He was trying to catch his breath but when he did look back at him, a hint of savagery was shining on his face. "This won't end well for you."
Edward rolled his eyes, keeping the phone fixated on his face. When a few seconds passed away and Jasper wasn't willing to cooperate, Edward stepped up, stopping just a few feet away from him, planting the bat on his shoulder. "You think just because you know someone like my father, you think you know someone like me. Let me tell you, I'm way worse."
"I think not," he said. "Coming at me means coming at Benji Hart. His father won't take it well."
"If you are referring to that photograph, it's gone," Edward stated, jerking his chin at the burner on the countertop. "I burned it," he told him. "And before you say you have more of that, I heard you talking right before you arrived and I went through your phone. Benji is bombarding your phone with obscenities about not doing the only job you had."
Jasper's lip trembled. He was lost in his thoughts on how to walk out unscathed but Edward was too prepared for that. Finally, Jasper spoke. "You want my confession. Fine."
Edward smiled and tossed the bat to the side. "Yes," he grabbed him by the collar, forcing him up. They both walked to the same chair Edward was occupying before.
In a flash, the air shifted inside the room when Japser buckled back, smashing his head with Edward's, making him topple a bit. In that second, Jasper threw a punch at him that Edward dodged by an inch.
Edward retreated a step, pulling his arm back before swinging at him. Jasper was faster as he ducked and motioned behind Edward, encircling his hand around his throat. "As I said before, you're a dead meat."
He tightened his hold over him just as Edward launched himself backward, taking Jasper along with him, and crashing both of them into the wall. Jasper yelped in pain, giving a brief moment for Edward to take over and free himself.
Turning around, he hit Jasper squarely on his jaw, pushing him again against the wall. He coughed, choking on blood. Jasper made another attempt to counter back at him, threw his hands onto his chest to keep Edward away from him, and lunged for the baseball bat.
