"Of course," the instructor said, stepping off her pedestal at the front of the lecture hall. "Many would have you believe that this is just that, a legend. However, I know the truth."

A student, a young man with messy hair, raised his hand. "What, exactly, do you mean by that, Ms. Crash?"

The instructor, Crash, turned to face the student and grinned. "Well," she said. "I trained the man."

"I don't believe you," the student responded. Several others voiced their agreement.

A man in the corner of the lecture hall stood. His orange space marine armor was beaten and weathered. "I met the guy," he muttered. "To call him a man is wrong. He was a monster. The most vicious marine I've ever met."

The students quieted down to listen.

"Look who finally spoke up," Crash joked. "How's your corner been, Phobos?"

"Shut up, Doom Gal," Phobos grumbled. "Where was I? Right, Balzkowicz. Damn near the toughest soldier, I ever had the displeasure of meeting. He was a nutcase. Had this 'guns are for wusses' mentality. When the demons invaded the Mars base, that dumbass ran headfirst into the horde. He was always screaming about ripping and tearing, huge guts, dumb shit like that. Though I have to give him credit, he did a damn good job cleaning up the problem."

"See," Crash said, elbowing Phobos in the ribs. "He wasn't all bad."

"He was still a pain in the ass," Phobos retorted.

Crash rolled her eyes and glanced down at her watch. It was 7:00 PM, almost time for dinner. "Any last questions?" she asked the class.

Another student, a girl with short brown hair, raised her hand. "Do you know where he is now?"

"His exact location is unknown," Crash explained. "But he's somewhere in Hell.

Phobos growled. "Let's hope he stays there."

Crash rolled her eyes and dismissed the class with a wave.

As the sun set over the UAC base, faint noises came from deep within the lab.

"Finally," Doctor Betruger whispered to himself as bright streaks of Hell energy swirled in front of him. "Now the rightful owners of this Godforsaken planet may return."

Screams of damned souls echoed through the portal as they returned to their desecrated bodies.

And somewhere in Hell, a space marine's eyes opened once more.
