Bryce’s POV:

“What are the cylinders for?” I asked, I couldn’t help but curb to my curiosity. I changed the topic because it was kind of getting awkward for me.

“The fairies store the teeth inside there because the teeth hold memories of the kids,” she answered with a smile.

“Can I see mine?” I asked, quickly perked up.

Tooth looked uneasy. “Uh, maybe later, Bryan,” she answered. “We should go to the infirmary, that’s where I’ll teach you compassion and kindness,” she said, quickly changing the topic.

“I'm not kind and compassionate enough?” I asked, pouting a little out of disappointment.

“No, you’re a very compassionate and kind kid, but...” I cut her off.

“Then you don’t need to teach me anymore,” I answered, smiling innocently at her.

“I guess,” she answered as she pondered about it for a while.

“Can I see my cylinder now?” I asked, looking up to her with my hazel eyes.

“Okay, but don’t open it yet, promise?” she asked as she kneeled down to look at me eye to eye and raised her pinkie. I hate promises because people around me break them even though I don’t

My grin went down to a small, disappointed pout. “Okay,” I answered as I pinkie promised with her. What’s the use of having my memories if I can’t look at them? I mean, yeah, I can remember some of my childhood but, curiously, only from the time of the night of the fire, nothing else before that. That’s why I’m curious, I can’t remember anything.

Then, everything went vague as Tooth screamed in horror as this black cloud crept closer to the palace.

“What’s that?” I asked as I squinted my eyes, not able to see properly. It was just a dark cloud, probably a storm cloud or something. Why was Tooth so worked up about it?

“North! North!” Tooth shouted frantically, racing around. “All fairies to the evacuation room! All fairies to the evacuation room!!!” she shouted as well.

The palace became a mess, a real mess. Fairies fluttered everywhere in incredible speed. The Guardians were talking in a group, huddled together as if we were playing football.

“Bryan! Get inside here!” North shouted as he waved towards me, making me join them.

I joined them and I could tell all of them were nervous except for me and Jack.

“What’s wrong? It’s just a storm cloud,” I said nonchalantly yet ignorantly.

“It’s not just a storm cloud. It’s a plague, little one,” North explained, his eyes full of worry and fear.

“They’re tooth fairies, from the black forest, Bunnymund’s first warren. They eat the memories of the children through devouring their teeth,” Tooth added, fear evident in her eyes too.

“What happened?” I asked, kind of getting scared too because of their scared expressions.

“The Dark Warlord captured some of my dear fairies and turned them into these dark and foul creatures. Ever since, they’ve been multiplying. The good thing is that an offspring of these creatures is very rare,” Tooth explained, both anger and fear etched on her face.

“Then how did they become these many?” I asked as I stared at the thousands of dark tooth fairies.

“That’s the plague, you kill one, the number of pieces you cut them will form bodies. So if you cut one into ten pieces, ten pieces will form their own bodies,” Sandy pantomimed using his illustrations above his head.
