Jack’s POV:

I can’t believe that kid. No wonder the Man in the Moon wanted him to be a Guardian; the kid doesn’t even comprehend his own powers.

When he told us to run away, I didn’t want to. I stayed beside him. North and the others ran to what seemed like a secret room under the floors of the palace. I stayed beside Bryan, wanting to comfort him even though I could feel some of the dark fairies trying to bite my skin.

What made me run after North and the others was that when Bryan knelt down, dark fire engulfed his arms up to his forearms. It was scary because the fire was black, pure black and skulls or I guess they were tormented spirits, wailed inside the fire, like they were used to fuel the flame.

Everything became quite because the screech of a banshee rang through the walls, ensnaring the dark fairies into confusion. What is Bryan?

I ran into the bunker and peeked with North.

“The kid’s really powerful, aye mate?” I heard Bunnymund say as he peeked too.

“You had to make him angry,” I answered him sarcastically.

“He told me to make him angry so I did,” Bunnymund retaliated as he elbowed me.

“I know that fire, that’s one fire I could never forget,” North thought out loud, fear and worry evident on his pale face. It was as if he saw an enemy come back to life.

“How? We made him sleep for a hundred years already! He can’t really be the son of him!” Sandy shouted if he could. He was frantic, panicking, mad and scared at the same time. He couldn’t stand still with what he was seeing.

“What? What’s the matter?” I asked, getting creeped out of their reactions. I know the fire is creepy, scary even, but it was Bryan we were talking about, he wouldn’t hurt a fly if it didn’t involve his family.

“That’s the dark fire, the ultimate spell that nearly devoured the entire world, engulfing it into a black hole burned by the fire itself unto the very fabric of space and time,” North replied ominously.

“That’s why even the Man in the Moon is scared of the Dark Warlord,” Sandy added, his sands continuously shifting, obviously agitated.

“Then who stood up against the Dark Warlord?” Tooth asked as she tried to calm down.

“No one. That was why Sandy was created. He put the Dark Warlord to sleep for as long he can. But I guess he’s awake now,” North narrated the story as if he was telling a horror story.

I mean yeah, it’s super scary. Even the Man in the Moon himself was afraid of the Dark Warlord, but to think that someone as kind, gentle and innocent as Bryan would be an offspring of a monster?

I peeked through the slit and saw that Bryan was engulfed in his dark fire now. The fire was strong, the base was night shade and it slowly became grey with the faces of tormented souls etched on the fire and actual souls streaming out of it like fog.

The dark fairies circled him but dared not come close. The fire was getting dark and I knew he was going to explode, as in right now.

“Get down!” I shouted as I ducked. There was a loud explosion and everything shook. Dust fell from the ceiling, the lights flickered on and off and the ground felt like it was going to crack.

I got out from the bunker, not thinking if there was an aftershock or there were more fairies. I didn’t care, what I cared about was Bryan and what happened to him. I ran off to him, fear brimming my heart of the possibilities. I kneeled down and tried to wake him up for he was lying on the floor, unconscious.
