Beyoncé paced one of the many guest bedrooms in her home. With tears in her eyes, she thought about the previous heated exchange with her husband.
She felt her pressure rise as his words continued to replay in her mind. I do love her.
Maybe I'm just doing too much, she said to herself but she immediately shook her head at that. She remembered him saying how Amil was nothing to him, that his friends were joking, that he was never in love with her. Now, the woman was back in his life and things were suddenly different.
She never knew of Amil to be his first love. In fact, it was a conversation he strayed away from and now she understood why. He was vocal about a few women in his past, but her name never once was brought up. Now she understood why.
A knock on the door caused her to quickly wipe away the tears and clean her wet face. She thought maybe it was one of her children looking for her, but she immediately rolled her eyes seeing Jay on the other end of the door.
"Beyoncé, you really going to walk away from me?" He entered the room, closing the door behind him.
She heavily sighed and looked away from his glare, "Jay, please leave."
"Hell no I'm not leaving. Look at you. You think I'm going to leave you like this?"
"You're the cause of this Jay!" She yelled, "And honestly, I'm tired of going through this. I'm tired of your lies and I'm tired of constantly trying to figure you out. I built up the courage to finally trust you again just for you to continue to lie and play me like a fool!"
"Baby, no one is playing you."
"Yes, yes you are. When I came to you about Amil years ago, you could've been honest with me then. You could've told me you were once in love with this woman. You could've told me the fucking truth from the beginning!"
He nodded, "At that moment, you caught me off guard. I hadn't heard her name in years. Yes, I should have told you then but I wasn't trying to relive those memories."
He sighed and reached for her hand, "I fucked up reaching out to Payton. I didn't think shit would come to this. My relationship with Amil was years ago and I'm completely over that, but maybe doing this was the closure I needed from her."
"Closure? Do you forget that we are married? You wait years later to get closure from a bitch you claimed was nothing to you? Do you realize that we would not be sitting here having this conversation if I was to get closure from any man in my past? Look at how you acted with Mel! A man I had sex with when I was 16!"
"I had my reasons to feel how I felt about him."
"Do you seriously hear yourself? Do you not see the similarities in these situations? You can haunt down a man I fucked and had no connection to since I was 16, but I have no reason to feel this way about a woman you lied to me about? A woman you were in love with? Honestly, I can't trust you... and the way I feel right now, I don't think I can be around you."
He looked at her, "Yeah, we can dead all that shit now. I'm not going nowhere. I'm not packing any bags, I'm not leaving this house at all actually, and you not either. What happened to all the shit we learned in therapy?"
"You tell me. You're the only motherfucker still lying!"
"And I'm sorry! I'll tell you that a thousand times until you actually see for yourself how sorry I am."
"Jay, fuck you. Me and my kids are leaving." She attempted to walk around him but he was like a brick wall and would not move.
"Hell no you not leaving, and you not taking our kids anywhere. You need to stop running from your problems so much B."
