After a long and hectic day, there was no better feeling than coming home to a prepared meal.
Just from their texts throughout the day, Jay learned that B was swamped at work just as he were. Thankfully, his last meeting of the day ended earlier than expected and he was able to pick up their kids from school and start on dinner.
He would usually call the chef over, but he wanted to do things differently this time around. B had been craving steaks lately and he was in the mood for one as well.
She arrived home around 7pm and instantly went into mommy mode. She realized that she wouldn't get any quiet time to herself as she kicked her shoes off at the door and was instantly pulled into playing with the twins and GiGi.
While the kids ate dinner, she showered and whined down for the day. Once she was done, the kids were already tucked in bed and sleeping peacefully thanks to Jay.
"It smells so good." She said to him while taking the seat at the kitchen's island. She filled her wine glass and watched on as Jay cut the medium rare steak into smaller pieces.
He fed a slice to her and watched on with a smirk to his lips as she savored the juiciness and tenderness of the ribeye.
"Baby," She whined, "That's so good."
"Yeah, I know."
"I hate that you cook better than me."
He busted out in laughter, "I mean..."
"Make that the last time I compliment your arrogant ass." She rolled her eyes and watched on as he fixed their plates, "Seriously, I've been craving this. And it taste even better with the wine. Do you want some?"
She held the wine glass to his lips to allow him to take a sip. He did so and nodded, "Shit actually don't taste too bad."
He joined her at the island and they said a quick prayer before diving in. It was a peaceful quietness as they ate dinner together. It was a rare moment that they wanted to take in. B couldn't remember the last time they enjoyed a meal together in their home without their children around.
She eventually grew full and allowed Jay to devour the last bit of steak she had left while she filled her wine glass once again.
"Did you finish everything you needed to get done today?" Jay asked. They spent only a few minutes on Facetime before she had to end the call. He felt as if he hadn't heard from his baby all day.
B nodded, "I did. Thank God. I cannot wait to drop this haircare line and be at peace. It's way more draining than I thought it'd be."
"But you killing it though."
"Thank you baby, but I tend to lack somewhere..."
"Nah B."
She took a sip of the wine, "I'm serious. It hurt me when I can't always be there for my kids. I enjoy picking them up from school and stuff and I haven't done that in days."
