The sun was sitting, Greystripe accidentally killed Whiteclaw earlier in the day. He can't stop replaying it in his head, Whiteclaw holding on for dear life then he falls to his death. It's my fault, it's my fault, I killed an innocent cat... it's my fault.. he thought repeatedly. His yellow eyes filled with pain and regret, ears low and tail twitching nervously. I'm sorry Whiteclaw... he remained sitting in the same spot, his posture made it look as if his fur was being weighed down by the heaviest of water. "Greystripe...." Fireheart whispered. The grey cat didn't speak back. "...it's not your fault, any other cat could have been in the same situation as that" He meowed as he padded deeper into the den, he left right after he said that because he thought Greystripe wouldn't say anything back, which was false. "And any other cat would have been able to help Whiteclaw!" Greystripe hissed, lashing his tail in frustration though his eyes were still full of hurt. Fireheart turned back to the grieving warrior. "Thats... thats not true, stop telling yourself such mouse brained lies" Fireheart spat, clearly unhappy with his friends lack of sense. "......I wish it were me who died instead of that poor riverclan warrior" Greystripe lowered his voice once more. "But what if Whiteclaw had to feel what you're feeling right now? There's no better swap to the story, both are horrible" The flame furred warrior sighed. The two fell into silence. Fireheart waited, seeing if Greystripe had more to say. He didn't. Fireheart went back again, his paws patting against the ground of moss. Greystripe turned his head back, to watch as Fireheart settled down, then looked back out the den again. It's late, and silverpelt shined brightly in the black sky. Whiteclaw must be in starclan... watching down upon his killer..... Greystripe thought sadly. "I'm sorry, Whiteclaw... I really am....." he whispered under his breath so no other cat could hear him. Silverpelt sparkled, had Whiteclaw given his forgiveness? Greystripe looked up a little longer, then padded to the back of the den where Fireheart laid and plopped down next to him as he rested his head on the soft moss. He closed his eyes, but couldn't fall asleep for quite a while, he eventually did.
