Once upon a time, Papa and Mama used to be Adeliya's most favorite people on earth...until the day she saw her. That woman — the woman on the TV — was the most beautiful woman Adeliya had ever seen, even more than her mama! And just how cool she looks in that outfit! She would really want one!
Oh, papa, you said you have met a real white blonde-haired girl before, is that her?
Papa said yes. Oh, how Adeliya adores white blonde hair! It makes you look like an angel! But that woman really is an angel, Papa confirmed, she is an angel whom he is blessed enough to encounter in his life. It still feels surreal whenever he thinks about it.
Adeliya huffed and pushed her papa away. No, it isn't fair that he has met an angel but she hasn't! It definitely is not fair!
'Papa, I want to meet her too! Can you take me to meet her?'
At that moment, Adeliya had felt it, Papa was not like his usual self. From his calm, composed manner, there was a sudden stab of reminiscence in his wide-opened eyes. A second later, they had gone mellow, Papa looked as if he was missing someone very much. Adeliya blinked. Was she imagining it?
"I will try to," he ended up saying, taking his daughter's hand into his. "We are going to meet her."
But her papa wasn't sure if he could, really, as if he had tried many times before but failed. That woman after all, is an angel, like Papa had said, after she is done with her duty of bringing peace into your life, she will leave and never return.
"But what about my peace?" whined Adeliya.
Oh, Adeliya, because that angel lady had brought peace to your papa's life, that's why you are here living your life to the fullest as of now. If she could ever see you with her own eyes, she would be shedding tears out of joy, that she's able to give you this life, that children like you no longer have to wake up everyday during war times.
Adeliya sees her papa contacting people on the phone almost regularly, with the words 'Arina Avenira' coming out of his mouth every single time. He always looks a bit touched when he says it, as if his heart tightens whenever he has to speak those words, and at the end of every session he always flops on the sofa, sighing and apologizing to his little Adeliya.
"But why," Adeliya angrily whines. "Why can't I meet her?"
"She's an important figure, Adeliya, they just make sure that nobody can come close to her, to make sure she's not assassinated."
"What does that mean?" cries Adeliya. "You just don't want to take me to her, papa, or you have grown tired of it."
"No I do not!" suddenly her papa snaps. "Never in my life have I thought about giving up on seeing her again!"
Adeliya is stunned. She has never been yelled to the face by Papa up to this point. After absentmindedly doing so, her papa looks like he regrets what he just blurted out and clears his throat. Adeliya squints her eyes to make sure her vision doesn't deceive her, that Papa is blushing.
Papa does stay true to his words, that he never gives up on finding ways to see that angel lady. Her name is Arina Avenira, isn't it?
Ever since Adeliya learned that name, she says it nonstop, everyday, everytime.
"Arina Avenira! Arina Avenira! Can we meet Arina Avenira?"
Her mama is concerned about her weird obsession, but her papa doesn't say anything. It was his fault for bringing it up, actually.
"Adeliya," Papa eventually has to confront her, "Papa promises to bring you to see her, but you're not allowed to say her name in front of Mama anymore, you got me?"
"But why?" Adeliya blinks her eyes.
"Because it will make her sad."
Even though little Adeliya couldn't understand it at that time, those words have stuck with her ever since. Why would saying the Spasitel's name make Mama sad, then?
Very unfortunately, Adeliya isn't like her mama, or the Spasitel herself, she doesn't care about Papa's feelings and how that would hurt him and Mama when she keeps being stubborn and says that name. She has always been a defiant child from the start.
"Arina Avenira! Arina Avenira!" the more she says that name, Adeliya realizes, the more she likes it better.
"Why is Arina an angel, Papa?" she asks one day.
Her papa looks kinda surprised, as he eventually forms a smile and replies, "Because she alone rescued the whole world."
"How did she do that?"
"By persevering through hardships."
"And why would she do that?"
"Because the world wasn't like how it is nowadays."
Adeliya gapes in amazement.
"How different is that world?"
"Well, there used to be a curtain, gigantic monsters, and the most horrible father in the world."
Her papa doesn't know how to communicate in a 'less serious' way with children, so surely those words aren't an exaggeration, regardless of how ridiculous they sound.
And then the spark has ignited within little Adeliya. Her sparkling eyes are ablaze with admiration for this heroic Arina Avenira who had fought a curtain, gigantic monsters, and the most horrible father in the world.
Never could she believe there would be someone who is even more heroic than her papa is.
"I have decided!" declared Adeliya determinedly, jumping on a sofa. "I will rename myself as 'Arina'! 'Adeliya' sounds nowhere as heroic! Oh, Papa, please do call me Arina!"
