Claire's POV

I was slammed to the floor by a zombie, my knees moving upwards whereby the beast was tossed from my body. I fired before it could gather the courage to try and tear the flesh from my body. It was horrific that every time we fell into a situation such as this one I could not help but to pity those who had turned.

They were innocents caught in a biological warfare.

"Claire!" I bared my teeth in the midst of Leon's concerned voice.

"I assure you I am fine, I wasn't bitten" I stated firmly and truly I wished not to be bitten. Imagine surviving Racoon city only to die in a similar fashion.

I made a face at the thought.

"I am trying to make my way over" He yelled and I nodded firmly once a glance was stolen.

"There are a lot of zombies here, it's kinda impossible you know!" I yelled at Leon who was practically on the next side of the parking lot and swarmed by zombies in a similar fashion. We grew to be separated by the zombies that kept coming in groups of three and four, my hands on my knees the moment I stood.

The virus was indeed far more advanced. It was usually easy to dodge zombies due to how slow they were but the zombies here seemed supernatural. Heck, it even took at least three shots to the head to have them killed.

I would not be surprised if they possessed the capability to levitate.

"I think we've survived worse" Leon countered and I scoffed. Did we really when the creatures before us appeared to be bionic?

"I beg to differ rookie" I yelled as I applied three shots to a skull. Would they ever stop coming?

"Can't you find another nickname?" he asked before sounding a series of shots.

"I could if you had explosions you know" I teased as I dodged a few hands and teeth. I made a face of disgust, they had a scent just as horrible as they looked.

I could use some of the alcoholic beverages Leon often had lingering on his tongue.

"Explosions will do no good here, try not to get hurt!" he warned and I nodded as I kept on firing.

"We need to clear a path to get to the vehicle!" I yelled as I clicked my tongue when the gun went empty. Fuck, talk about bad timing. I dodged the creatures as best as I possibly could while reloading my weapon, a waistless zombie crawling towards my leg.

I stomped on the creature's head before emptying my gun on the creatures before me once again. It was extremely uncomfortable wearing a dress, a dress that was often taken by the wind due to the damage vents around.

Sure I hate the dress but being without ammunition proved to be a bigger threat.

"Leon, I need ammo!" I yelled as I was now reliant on an empty gun, my feet and fists. I moved backwards but not in a manner to have myself cornered in any way.

"I know, I am trying to get to you!" Leon replied. With all the noise and grains around us we had to yell at each other just to communicate.

Leon' s eyes expressed his concern because while he maintained survival in the distance his eyes showed that he was worried about me. I turned a few necks swiftly, my empty gun cracking a skull open.

I had always been able to take care of myself.

"Take cover!" came the sound of a woman's voice and Leon and I followed that instruction swiftly. A series of shots sounded, my eyes on Leon who was desperately searching for the source of the firepower and specifically our savior.

When there was silence I stared at the lifeless bodies before me prior to moving to my feet.

"Oh my god" I froze at the sight of a brunette woman, her rather large gun being lowered once all that stood to be my threat fell. She was next to me within seconds, a new gun being handed to me.

Fresh growls fill our ears, Leon making his way to his feet far more gracefully than I did.

I was attacked by two zombies at once, my body being thrown upwards whereby the creatures collided, one bullet piercing their rotting skulls. With my reckless use of ammo earlier I believe it was best to conserve.

"When Christopher said he was coming to get his little sister he forgot to mention that she was a badass" The woman stated and it finally dawned on me as to who she was. She smiled at the realization that I had recognized her, my eyes moving to the ring on her finger swiftly.

"My brother finally pulled you" I joked as we fired together, Jill chuckling softly.

"We were supposed to break the news to you last night but duty called" she stated and my eyes moved to Leon who was now joined by my brother, both men making a healthy pair the way Jill and I did.

"The path is clear, let's move!" Chris yelled and I believe he forgot that we were not his subordinates. I rolled my eyes and Jill patted me on the back as we moved. Jill and Chris got in the back of the vehicle while I joined Leon in the front, Leon watching his mirrors to ensure that the pair in the back had their doors locked.

Leon drove off swiftly, corpse being run over aggressively until we were out of the main parking and onto zombie filled streets. The outbreak was far more severe than I had imagined and children were in the mix, my eyes burning.

"Are you wearing a dress?" I turned to look at my brother who eyed my attire.

"Unfortunately, I procrastinated on laundry for at least two weeks" I confessed truthfully and Chris removed his jacket.

That jacket was thrown over my exposed thigh, my cheeks growing hot. My brother seemed unaware of the fact that Leon and I had already crossed that line so there was nothing to shield Leon's eyes from.

"And that's the best you could do?" Chris asked and Jill placed a hand on my shoulder.

"If it makes you feel better now that I am his woman he does the very same thing to me" she stated and I rolled my eyes.

"It is not too late to dump his ass Jill" I teased and Chris cleared his throat.

"I appreciate you acting ladylike but-"

"Chris, would you quit treating me like a kid, the dress is not as bad as you believe" I said firmly and Leon glanced at me. His expression indicated that he completely disagreed with my statement.

"Turn the radio on because I believe they won't quit" Jill mumbled and Leon followed her instruction.

"Your thigh isn't the only thing exposed-"

"And in between having Leon over I didn't get the time to-" I froze when the car came to an abrupt stop, Leon's arm outstretched so that I was not sent through the windscreen.

"You slept in my sister's apartment?" Chris asked and I took a deep breath.

Fuck. I had a mouth as big as the very planet we were on.

"Yes I did" Leon stated and I turned to look at my brother. I took a deep breath, I needed all the strength I had within me in order to conjure the biggest lie ever.

"He slept on the sofa, it was late and Tyler was being an asshole" I stated and I believe my brother took a rather huge bite into the bear.

"That idiotic boyfriend of yours from high school?" Chris asked and Leon watched his mirrors before pulling off smoothly. Let's just say we had a few hungry zombies coming our way so this was not the time to stop on the side of the road.

"I almost broke my fist punching him" I hissed, Chris and I sparking our own conversation.
