Everest stared up at the turtle with fear and curiosity in his brown eyes. He held the bow in his hands and his instincts kicked in. He raised his bow and shot at the turtle, his aim prefect but the turtle was faster. The turtle dodged it and picked up the arrow from the rooftop. He scoffed and threw it back down.
"Did you seriously just try to shoot me? How offensive." The turtle said dramatically. He pulled out his Blue twin katanas and swung them, creating a blue portal next to him and Everest. Everest stood several steps backwards in fear as the turtle stepped out of the portal next to him. The portal shut and the turtle stood there with his hand on his hip.
"The names Leo. And yours?" The turtle smiled at Everest smugly.
"It's..Everest." He said, being very cautious of the new person in front of him.
"I haven't seen you around here before...You're not from New York, are you?" Leo asked, tilting his head slightly. Everest shook his head and put the bow in the holder on his back, the arrows in its place beside it. "Then where are you from?"
"Cold...uh..Coldforests.." Everest lied.
"Huh. Never heard of it. Can we go there now? I'm curious and I'm bored. My brothers took away my phone because I 'showed up late to training too many times' and it's a 'well overdue punishment' or whatever." Leo asked, putting his katanas on his back and standing more to his side.
Everest felt put on the spot, but had to do what's right. "Uh sorry, my mum isn't very good with new guests. So maybe next time?" Everest said softly.
"Heh, that's alright. Wanna hang out in New York? You should see the pizzas they have here." Leo smirked at him and grabbed his hand. Everest was pulled along with Leo as he walked into the crowded streets of New York. Leo pulled down a ladder to a rooftop and he climbed up, waiting for Everest at the top. Everest reluctantly climbed up and saw the colours of New York. His eyes glistened and his heart pounded in his ears. His mouth was slightly open and the sounds of New York filled his brain. He shook his head out of this trance and he took and step back.
"I-I can't be here- I'm sorry Leo-" he said, trying to walk off but Leo stopped him.
"Why? Is it your mother or- you know what, it's fine. Can I at least have your phone number?" Leo asked, pulling out his phone. Everest sighed and smiled, nodding softly as he told him his number. Leo typed it in and Everest extended his brown and amber yellow wings, his black and Mocha brown splotches glistened in the light of the sun as he flapped them hard, flying into the late afternoon sky. Leo watched him and smirked.

As Everest flew back to Coldwillow glade, the castle was quiet. Too quiet. Everest landed with a soft thud. He carefully looked around and that's when his step mother stepped out the shadows behind him.
"Where were you, Everest starborn? It's been hours and you've just been venturing out in the wild?" She said sternly.
"That's exactly what I need in a young warrior. No fear of the wild. You proved yourself worthy. Congratulations, son. You really put the starborn name to glory."
Everest's ears perked up and he sighed in relief.
"Thank you, Nyoka- I- I mean mum." Everest stuttered.
"Hah! Don't worry about it. Call me whatever you want to. I don't mind." Nyoka petted Everest head softly.
"Now head to the dinner hall, tonight's sushi night!"
Everest smiled brightly and nodded, rushing to put his bow and arrows down in his room and heading to the hall. The dinner hall smelt fresh and like salty soy sauce. Everest ran fingers through his hair and brushed it down before he sat down in his spot. He noticed the spots next to him were empty. Usually his friend would be next to him.
"Oscar?" He mumbled quietly, then a lizard mutant came rushing down to sit next to him.
"Hey Eve, sorry I'm late. Your sister put so many stickers on my face, had to take them all off. You can probably see the redness from the ones on my arms." Oscar stated and he was right, you can see a faint redness on Oscars wrists and upper arm. Everest laughed and covered his mouth. Oscar rolled his eyes and smiled softly. The sushi started coming out on plates and it's looked delicious. Everest looked to the seat on his opposite but that was still empty. Great, Alaska making her usual late entrance.
"Alaska, late as usual." Everest groaned, before grabbing his sushi, dipping it in the soy sauce and eating it. Oscar sighed and ate his sushi as well. Around 10 minutes later, Alaska sat down next to Everest and smirked.
"Hey! Did you start without me again?" She whined
"Alaska, you're 20 minutes late. Show up earlier and maybe we won't eat without you. Genius." Everest smirked at him smugly and finished the lats of his sushi before setting down his chop sticks. He stood up and ruffled Alaska's hair before waving them goodbye and walking to his room.

As he walked down the hall to his room, he saw his step mother looking very sneaky, walking into a room with a black coat, black pants- just everything black. She snuck into a room and had two bodyguards out the front of it. Everest raised an eyebrow and shrugged it off. He walked into his room, got changed and flopped onto his bed. His wings extended around him like a blanket and his lavender scented deer was pressed close against his chest. His eyes slowly shut and his tail whipped softly. He drifted into a deep sleep, his body cooling down and his mind shutting down..
