"I...come on." Michonne took Winnie's hand leading her outside.

The afternoon sun made it next to impossible to see at first what was going on.
Winnie let Michonne lead her over to where Rick was at the jeep yelling orders to everyone.
Winnie froze seeing Daryl laying in the bed of the jeep motionless.
Was this how everyone felt when her heart acted up?
Winnie clenched her fist reminding her self that she had to stay calm for Daryl and help where she could.
She could get upset later.

"He's been out for hours now." Carol sighed joining Winnie in the infirmary
"He's still breathing."Winnie said wiping his brow with a lukewarm cloth trying to keep his fever down.
"Have you rested child?"Carol asks
"I'm alright." Winnie smiles "Besides he was there when I needed him." Winnie wiped her worn out hands with a dry towel as she watched Daryl.
"I'm happy that he has you."Carol tells her
"I..." Winnie blushed "Thank you."
"No thank you dear." Carol pats her shoulder "Would you like some coffee?"
"I'm alright thanks."Winnie shook her head
"Okay I'll be right back."Carol turns to leave
"Carol."
"Yes dear?"
"If anything happens to me...if I'm not around anymore...please take care of Daryl for me." Winnie wringed her hands
"Sure." Carol nods before exiting the room
Winnie looked back at Daryl the color had returned to his face and he seemed to be now just sleeping.

Daryl let out a low growl trying to wrench his eyes open.
Daryl could hear a TV close by he was having trouble seeing but he could tell someone was sitting close by the bed.

"What're ya watchin'?"Daryl asks
He sounded like himself but he had a feeling his words were coming out of his mouth slurred. Daryl wanted to sit up but his body screamed at him not to move.
"Hey you." Winnie answered it was hard to see her but she sounded tired and like she'd been crying
"Hey."
"How are you feeling?" Winnie asks
"Like someone busted my head open." Daryl told her moving his head slightly jarring his body making him feel queasy
"How's your head?" Winnie asks

Daryl closed his eyes it was hard for him to think all he could seem to focus on was not throwing up.  "Oh Daryl." Winnie sighed "Here try to stomach this."
Daryl opened one eye to just barely see her holding a cup of water and some white oblong pills. He reached out his hand trembling so much he could tell Winnie pulled her hand away.

"Open."
"Lemme do it." Daryl protests
"Daryl Dixon."Winnie said "Let me help you damn it."
Daryl narrowed the one eye that was open at her
"Don't tell anyone." He mumbled
"Who am I going to tell?" Winnie asks "Now open."

Daryl let Winnie place the pills in his mouth and help him swallow some water.

"You'll need to eat something than get plenty of rest so you won't be leaving that bed for a few days." Winnie tells him
"How do ya know?"
"I know enough about medicine and trauma to know you don't need to be doing any kind of activity right now."She explains
Daryl was about to argue but it was nice having someone take care of him.
"I should of listened to ya Win' ." Daryl reached out his hand to her.
"Don't focus on that." Winnie held his hand "What's important is that you're okay."
"Ah I've been through worse." Daryl smiles
"You have?"Winnie asks
"Yup." He nods "I've been thrown from a horse, fallen down a ravine, pulled an arrow outta myself and shot in the head in one day."
Physically he didn't feel his best but having Winnie there with him helped
"Good lord Daryl."Winnie laughs "You sound like a cat."
"I'm just as stubborn apparently."Daryl smirks
"Apparently."she says " I'm going to make you some soup okay?"
"Yeah."

                            ***

"How's the soup?" Winnie asks
Daryl could tell she was sitting next to the bed but his vision was still fuzzy
