Julie didn't want to pull away from the hug. After almost losing her boys, she could touch them, feel them. She wanted to jump around in excitement. However it wasn't long before the boy's arms left her side. She wanted nothing more than to pull all them back in and smother each of them in the most bone crushing hug that she could muster.
She looked over at Luke and he was smiling at her with his goofy smile, his teeth hovering above his lip. There were still some tear tracks on his cheeks. Julie had to stop herself from walking over and wiping them away. In truth, she wanted to touch Luke again, to feel his arms wrap around her, to smell his warm honey scent that she had smelt earlier. She had thought that she would have never been able to touch him, and now she could.
"What do you think this means?" Alex asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
"We're special?" Reggie chimed. He sounded more like himself than he did earlier. Julie never wanted to see him on the verge of tears again. It wasn't the Reggie she knew.
"Well let's think about it, we were kind of special before. Lifers could see us with a bit of help from our little star over there." Luke said and winked at Julie. He was looking at her as if she was the brightest light that he had ever seen.
It was killing Julie not to run over and embrace him again but she was very aware that she had an audience.
"Because I can touch you now, does that mean you're still ghosts?" Julie asked.
The boys all exchanged glances.
"I'm not sure." Luke replied as he examined his hands like they held the answer.
Julie couldn't stop herself and reached out her hand to his. Luke noticed and knotted their fingers together. His hands felt rough, calloused from his guitar but their hands fitted perfectly like they were made for each other.
There was a cough from behind them, Julie turned to see Alex gesturing over to Reggie. Her cheeks were beginning to burn.
"If we're still ghosts, maybe we should try poofing somewhere? I suppose I could try and find Willie, tell him I'm not dead, well more dead." Alex began to ramble.
"Shouldn't we try that later?" Reggie said, looking at his bandmates innocently.
Alex coughed again and Reggie's eyes widened.
"Yeah, we should try that." He said and in an instant he poofed from the studio. Alex followed not a second later.
"I guess that answers that question." Luke mumbled looking at the spot where Alex had been.
Julie took that moment to step forward and bring herself closer to Luke. The boy looked down at her with a gaze that made Julie want to melt into a puddle. Luke then let go of her hand and placed his hands onto her hips instead. Their faces were so close now, if Julie had less self control she would probably try to kiss him.
"I never thought a ghost would be warm." Julie mumbled as she felt the warmth radiating off him.
"Warm?" Luke said, sounding surprised.
"Yeah. I'm guessing that's new." Julie replied. To be honest, she had been expecting Luke to be cold.
Luke removed his hand and touched his bicep. He looked surprised, his mouth forming into an o.
"Let's add it to the list of questions." Luke murmured more to himself than Julie.
Julie grabbed hold of his hands again and stared into his hazel eyes, the green specks brighter than she had ever seen them.
"We'll work it out together." She mumbled, trying not to get lost in his eyes.
She wanted nothing more than to spend the evening with him. However it was soon interrupted by her brother calling her name outside the studio.
