WOOYOUNG•••
Chapter Two:
Walking in the middle of the storm with my clothes now drenched, my entire body felt numb inside. All I could do was repeat the words Minjun venomously spat at me, feeling my heart shatter more and more as I processed his true feelings. With me willingly giving up a sacred part of myself such as my virginity to him near the early months of our relationship, it only meant nothing to him after that moment shared between us. Everything in our relationship was one-sided, and I chose to be blind for no real reason in the first place.
In the nearing distance was the bright neon sign of an open convenience store, a place where I could take a moment to collect myself before placing the dreaded call to Yeosang. Being inside there would also allow me to eat something, as the last real meal I had was two days ago.
Eating was one thing I found myself refusing to do, especially when I started to notice the signs of Minjun's betrayal. Part of me wanted to become more appealing to him, hopefully gathering his want to be home more often. Little did I realize, my actions would cause worse repercussions. I went from eating three meals a day to only one meal a day while accompanied by the occasional comments about my weight and my body size from him. Now, I can go a whole day without needing to eat, as the thought of even coming close to feeling full made me nauseous.
Reaching the door, the common bell sound chimed as I stepped inside the brightly lit store, instantly noticing a half-asleep worker perched behind the counter. My body shivered at the rush of coldness, but I tried my best to be as quiet as possible while I searched for a secluded corner to sit and calm my thoughts. Finding a spot without any difficulties, I quickly made my way over and sat down, pulling out my phone to dial my lifeline of a friend. However, just as my luck could get any worse, my phone wouldn't turn on.
"Aish...come on..." I cursed to myself, slightly smacking the device on my hand in hopeful efforts of a temporary fix or start. All I wanted to do was at least have a peaceful end of night before facing reality once the sun rose, but it seemed as though fate truly had it out for me.
Coming to terms with either a dead or broken phone due to the rain, I decided to try and look for possible chargers within the store to buy. My money was limited and my phone was a little outdated, but I knew I had enough to at least find and buy one to hopefully power up my phone for a call.
Aisle by aisle, I slowly combed through each section with a keen eye, desperately trying to find the key to my safety net. Eventually my eyes landed on my desired section, a small smile growing on my face at the sight. There were all kinds of chargers, but the one I needed seemed to be missing.
"Damn it...Just fucking great..." I muttered, still searching for any possible signs of a miracle.
"Can I help you, sir?" A deep voice asked near my ear.
With a subtle jump, I turned to see the one person I never would've believed to be here. After five years, my eyes were face to face with San, who looked at me with a surprised expression while dressed in what looked to be the store's uniform. "W-Woo...?"
A scoff left my lips as I quickly turned around and made my way back to the front door, not caring about the storm still raging outside. However, I felt his hands grab my backpack and pulled me back. "San, I swear to God, let me go."
"Wooyoung, you're completely wet. Why the hell are you here?"
Rolling my eyes, I shook off his grip. "Mind your own business. Why are you here?"
San froze, glancing down at his feet for a moment before returning his eyes to me. "It's a long story..."
"A long story, huh?" I laughed bitterly, shaking my head in disbelief. "Well, unfortunately for you, I don't have time or the care in the world to hear it. All I want is a charger for my phone so I can call someone."
He glanced at my phone with a raised eyebrow. "...I don't think we have your phone charger in stock, but I can lend you my phone to call who you need."
Just fucking great...
Biting my lip, I contemplated whether or not use it. I knew that Yeosang would have an extra charger at his place for me to use, but the mere idea of having San lend a helping hand made my blood boil. However, the faster I could get it my destination, the better.
With a heavy sigh, I nodded. "If you don't mind..."
I could've sworn I saw a hint of a smile grow on his face as he handed me his phone from his pocket. Not bothering to thank him, I quickly dialed Sangie's number and placed the phone to my ear. It only took a couple of rings before he answered. "San...why the hell are you calling me so late?"
My eyebrow raised in question, but I brushed it off. "Sangie, it's Woo. I need you to pick me up, please."
There was sounds of sudden shuffling and movement on the other line as he cleared his throat. "Woo? Where are you? And why do you have San's phone?"
"Long story, but I'm at the convenience store by my..." I paused, glancing up at the male who stared at me with concern laced in his eyes, "...place."
"See...um...the thing is, I'm with Jongho right now..."
"Sangie!"
Yeosang quickly began talking. "I know, I know! It's just, one thing led to another and-"
With a loud groan, I shook my head before whisper-yelling into the phone. "You're basically in another town. What am I supposed to do now?"
"Well...since you're with San...you could stay with him for the night?"
Every fiber in my body wanted to yell and scream, but instead, I bit my tongue and forced out a smile. "Sure, thanks."
With an abrupt end to the call, I handed San back his phone. "Here you go..."San took the phone back with a subtle smile. "So...what did he say...?"
"I'm basically stuck here for a day or two. It's fine."
"I don't think he said that, Woo."
"Stop calling me that!" I snapped, instantly wincing as I realized the other worker was stirring in his sleep. "It's Wooyoung, got it?"
San nodded slowly. "Right, sorry Wooyoung... Anyways...Even if he did say that, I'm not going to let you stay here without a proper place to sleep."
"Well, unless you have money to lend me to find a motel or something, I'm staying here." I muttered.
"Still the same as usual, so stubborn..." He chuckled. "You can stay with me, Wooyoung. Free of charge."
"I rather stay outside in the storm butt-ass naked."
San looked at me sternly. "Wooyoung, once I clock out in the next hour, the owner over there," he paused for a moment and pointed to the sleepy male at the counter, "is going to kick you out for loitering. So, what's it going to be?"
Glancing at the worker then at him, I knew deep down I had no other choice at the moment but to accept his offer. It would allow me to have a place to sleep and shower for the time being, while also figuring out a way to get to Yeosang's house within the next day or so.
Grudgingly, I accepted defeat and nodded. "Fine...but only for the night, that's it."
San smiled. "Right, of course..."
Please help me survive these next few hours...
