Chapter Nine:
Watching Wooyoung sleep in my arms brought a wave of emotions within me, so much emotions that I could feel myself fighting against shedding tears. His arms wrapped around me securely, almost afraid of letting me go, and all I could do was take in the breathtaking sight. If I could freeze time and take a picture to capture the serenity that enveloped us in this moment, I would do so with a swiftness.
However, I knew he was still conflicted on how to approach me, the suddenness of our reunion during a turbulent time was jarring enough to deal with. Last thing I wanted was for him to wake up in an even more confused state, possibly second guessing everything that had happened during the dark hours.
So, with gentle care, I managed to remove myself from his hold and carefully pick him up in my arms. He stirred for a moment before finding a soft spot on my shoulder to rest his head on, and with a silent chuckle, I slowly carried him to the guest bedroom to sleep comfortably. There was a lingering thought about him leaving as soon as he woke up, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness at the realistic possibility. Nonetheless, I wouldn't stop him even he did.
Tenderly, yet strategically pulling back the covers before placing him down on the mattress, his body quickly conformed to the plushness of the pillows as he snuggled his head into them with a sleepy smile. I took a moment to absorb everything about the sight, and with a contempt nod, I turned around to leave him in his state of bliss.
But unexpectedly, I felt his hand grab my own, noticing his eyes still showing signs of discomfort as he murmured my name in a pleading voice. "Sannie...?"
"Get some rest, Woonie....you need sleep." I whispered softly, trying my best to gentle pull away from his sleepy grip.
He shook his head disapprovingly, a small pout on his lips as he barely tugged on my hand. "...stay...please..."
My heart warmed as I knew he was still in limbo of sleep, and with a gentle squeeze in return, I kneeled down beside him next the bed and brushed a strand of hair out of his face. "I'm right here Woonie...always..."
I could tell he dozed off again as his breathing returned even and his face seemed relaxed once more. With tactful eyes, I admired each and every part of his face, going so far as counting every eyelash on his beautiful eyelids. All I wanted to do was give him this sense of peace always, protecting him from any form of harm that ever threatened to hurt him.
Waiting for as long as I could to confirm that he had fallen into a deep slumber, I silently made my way out of the room and made my way into my own, instantly collapsing into my bed with a sigh. It was now after five in the morning and the sun was due to begin rising in about two hours. Knowing my own sleeping patterns, my body would only conform to four hours of sleep before I'd be up again.
