Eliza's POV
I knew the day would come when Jack learned the truth, and I had been surprised how calm Seth was when he sat Jack down with me, and he told our story last night. I also helped explain but Seth spoke most beautifully on such a devastating topic. He covered all areas, so nothing was left out of the picture, so Jack could process it as quickly as possible. It was clear to me that Seth had been preparing for years about how to break the truth to him. But an eloquent and soft explanation didn't help reduce the impact of what it meant.
Jack had been silent for all of a minute; he didn't take it well. He started trashing everything in the den, to the point Seth had to try and intervene, but Jack kept kicking, punching and biting while Seth defended each attack. But then Jack started howling about how Seth failed to find the other rapists. Kept blaming him. Then Jack called me a liar. Then asked me why I didn't get rid of the baby – him, my Jack – talking about himself like that! It was a breaking point.
I was the one, of all people, who screamed at Jack to leave. I couldn't think of any other way to stop my teenage son from rampaging on and on throughout the den.
He ran, then I broke down – and oh boy, was that a fun 24 hours at Firwood. I was a hyperventilating mess, my daughters were looked after by the other mothers in the pack while Seth sat with me and tried his best to get me to calm down in our bedroom.
But I couldn't get Jack's screams of rage out of my mind, like he immediately switched from an easy going and happy boy – to being impacted just as heavily as I had been when I went through it all.
Seth had suggested he go for the weekend, and I knew that meant he would return Sunday night, but to see Jack return a day earlier has got me out of bed and hurrying outside as best as I can. Being 8 months pregnant with my 11th daughter makes it impossible to run, but I waddle quick.
I see Seth clutching onto Jack and Jack clutching onto him, easing my heart a little at the display of forgiveness. However, my eyes are also going past the green grass down to the flood of sports cars and two expensive looking dark SUVs that just parked over the lawn.
Out of one car, I see two little girls, a mother and a father. From the lead SUV is a pregnant woman like me, and she has multiple escorts helping her out. Out of the other sports cars, I see four more strong looking men, alone – with certain... heavy aura's about them. Not a normal pack. Not at all.
My Luna inside seethes with worry, Alpha Gang. She gives me my answer, making me tense. I turn around – I yell to my dark haired twins, Cali and Delores, and doe-eyed Grace-Lynn walking outside to say hello to Jack, "Girls! Get back inside! Don't come back out here," I have to huff in a breath, even talking could wind me sometimes when I was this pregnant. They must hear my worry, as they quickly scuffle back into the packhouse, shutting the large doors behind them. I turn to see twelve Firwood Beta wolves flanking Seth now, Brawn coming up to escort me closer.
I stand behind Seth as he anxiously faces the new pack.
Jack jumps over to me and gives me a hug around my neck, kissing my cheek before also turning to face the newcomers, clearly avoiding my eye for a bit.
The Alpha Gang and the two women in their group, plus the two little girls, approach together, but two specific Alphas lead them. The tallest one has a lot of natural muscle, wearing an expensive suit you'd see on a lawyer. So I'm guessing that's what he is. His black hair is combed back, his dark eyes sparkling with... magic, I'd say. Correct. Hybrid, my Luna tells me, his mother was a witch, father... a Royal Alpha. These are...
My Luna goes quiet as Seth looks the lead Alpha in the eye – while the second one, his brother, wears a gold chain. These two look menacing together, as they both take in Seth.
