Problems in the Marcos administration are really important. But the most important are the criminal rates of the philippines. There are many organizations that were against the administration at that time. An example is the New Peoples Army that was founded on March 29, 1969. The New Peoples Army is the armed wing of the CCP. It acts as the CPP's principal organization, aiming to consolidate political power from what it sees as the present "bourgeois reactionary puppet government" and to aid in the " revolution". The office of the president designated the NPA as a terrorist group, along with the CPP. The United States and the European Union have designated the CPP–NPA as "foreign terrorist organizations" in 2002 and 2005.
On August 21, 1971, the Liberal partylist hosted an event on Plaza Miranda. While they were campaining, the NPA terrorist group threw grenades and caused a large explosion. Many have been injured and this caught the attention of Ferdinand Marcos. After this event, many riots and anti-government activities were happening.
