Dusk was settling, the air around her as she walked was brisk but not uncomfortably so. It had been decades since she stepped foot in this miserable town, and she had never planned to come back. But how could she say no to himThe boarding house was elegant, regal in a way. The lights inside shone like a beacon welcoming her home, even if she wasn't very happy about it. She pulled her backpack higher up on her shoulder and let out an unamused sigh at the thought of who she would see in this house.
Her fist raised to knock on the door but paused as she heard voices arguing inside, she shook her head and knocked anyway. Rocking back and fourth on her heels as she waited. The door swung open with quite some force and she laid eyes on the one person she really didn't want to see
"Well, if it isn't Stefan's little old friend" he snarled at her, she simply rolled her eyes and pushed him aside walking in "fuck off Damon you leech" her English accent dripping with hate, she stopped as she walked into the foyer and dropped her bag on the floor next to her as she saw Stefan looking up at her in shock "you know 80 voicemails is just as effective as 1 Stef, you knew I'd show up soon anyway" she crossed her arms with a smirk
Stefan broke out in a smile and rushed to her lifting her into his arms as he span her around "Luna, you're here" he smiled warmly, a smile she'd greatly missed "I'm here, sad to see so is he, but I'll try not to kill him" she threw a glare back at Damon who simply smirked at her "you can try" he almost dared but before she could retaliate Stefan drew her attention again "well, now that your here I think it's time we catch up"
Her mind was thrown through hoops as Stefan updated her on everything that had been going on. How he came back to Mystic Falls for a girl, who turned out to be his evil Ex's doppelgänger, how they fell in love. Then he told her about the sun and the moon curse, and about how the original vampires are after Elena because her blood can be used in a ritual to unbind the hybrid Klaus and give him access to his werewolf side. She then started drinking Damon's bourbon just to try and settle herself as he went into how Elena had made a deal with Klaus' brother Elijah to keep her friends safe and keep her alive as long as she went through with the ritual so he could kill his brother
She thought her family had drama
It had been a few hours now and her mind was reeling "wow, I leave you alone for a few years and all hell breaks lose" she joked trying to lighten the mood as he caught her up to speed, he chuckled softly nodding in agreement "and you need me to what? Kill Klaus? Help Elena? What am I looking at here" before he could answer Damon strolled back into the room having disappeared a while ago "you, are here because we don't trust Elijah can keep her alive. So, do your thing and find a way to stop this 'kay" she glared at him as he snatched the glass from her hand "and stop drinking my bourbon" he snarled at her as she leant back into the sofa with a smirk almost saying 'what you gonna do about it' before holding her hand open and bringing the glass back to her before downing the rest of it
"Can we pause this little rivalry you guys have until we find a solution please?" Stefan intervened, knowing the usual path these things take and wanted his house kept in one piece "then tell her to keep her mitts off my stuff" Damon groaned sitting down in the armchair away from her "tell him to shove it where the sun doesn't shine.. or I'll do it for him" she smiled politely through her venomous tongue making his jaw clench
"Look Stef I wanna help, and I'll see what I can find but it's a little late notice. The full moon is tomorrow" he sighed knowing she was right "then you should've got here sooner" Damon sassed at her, but she knew he was right. She'd been away trying to find something she'd been searching for, for a long time, and when she got back to her apartment and heard all the voicemails from Stefan she came straight away "I hadn't been home in a while okay, I didn't get your calls, I'm sorry. If I'd known sooner I would've been here sooner" Damon bit his tongue "it's okay, you're here now" she sighed, feeling guilty
"It's getting late, and besides I know what you need to do tonight so here" he picked up an empty glass and bit into his hand before dripping the blood into the glass and handing it to her "do what you need to do, get some sleep. And tomorrow I'll introduce you to Elena and we'll find a way to stop this" Stefan sounded so sure, she felt an immense pressure on her. She had so little time to find a way to save his girlfriends life and she wasn't sure she could do it. But she'd try
She had barely slept, up all night researching a way to try and help this girl, the sun had risen and she could hear voices downstairs, so she begrudgingly showered and got dressed and shoved the tiredness to the back of her head and headed downstairs, when no one was in the foyer she headed to the kitchen, not there either, so she walked the halls trying to follow the voices she could softly hear. When as she turned a corner she walked straight into someone, as soon as she touched him she could sense what he was, and that he was old, very old
He just stood their, staring at her "I don't think we've met" he held his hand out, he knew exactly who she was. But he also knew she wouldn't trust him at all unless he offered her something "I'm Araeluna" she shook his hand, this must be Elijah she could sense it now, he wasn't just old, he was ancient she sucked in a breath, trying not to let her curiosity show "Elijah I presume" she spoke confidently "you are correct" she nodded and took her hand back from his grip "well, lovely to meet you, but Stefan is waiting for me"
As she walked around him and headed for the rather large study or library you could call it, a smirk graced the originals face, she didn't seem scared of him, nervous yes, but not scared. He was curious to know more, to know exactly what she was
"Finally" Damon groaned as she walked in, she flicked his ear as she walked past his chair to stand infront of the girl she assumed was Elena "hey you must be Elena, I'm Araeluna, but you can call me Luna" Elena looked up at the girl, she was tall, her red hair and bright blue eyes made her look warm, she was really pretty "hey, yea I am, it's nice to meet you, I've heard a lot about you" she smiled back. It was important to Stefan that they got along, the two most important women in his life. Luna was his best friend, he wanted her to like Elena and this was a good start
"Please tell me you found something" he pleaded but by the defeated look on her face his heart sank "I'm sorry, but her being a doppelgänger rendered half my spells useless, the only thing I can think of is something I'm not sure we can do" she felt Elijahs presence in the room again "your spells?" He asked as if he didn't know
She turned to him with a plain look "let's not pretend you didn't know I was a witch, that's why you gave me your hand, you wanted me to trust you" Elijah smirked softly, she was smart "and do you?" He pushed but she simply shrugged "jury's still out on that one" she could sense his pain, that killing his brother wasn't something he was finding easy "wait how do you know Stefan, I mean you don't look much older than me, and he mentioned you were witch, I just.. don't know how you met" it was normal that she was curious. Stefan was her boyfriend after all, Luna could understand her desire to know
"Well, I met Stefan in what was it, 1934? I was 23" Elena's face only looked more confused "no I'm not immortal, but I do use magic to keep me young, thanks to Stefan here" Elijah's interest had peaked now "what how?" Elena questioned, Damon was growing bored but couldn't exactly leave as they still needed to discuss today "well, there's a spell that allows me to take years of someone's life, only I have to have their blessing and their blood, and seeing as Stefan is immortal it doesn't kill him, I can't take immortality so I only take a few decades at a time" Elena didn't really understand it but she got the premise. Elijah however was rather impressed.
She seemed powerful, she could be a good ally, or a vengeful enemy if this went wrong. He needed to find out more, he couldn't have her messing things up for him. He had to see this through
<> just a little intro for you guys, I'm excited for this book! It'll be similar to wild in mystic falls but I think of this book as a chance to improve on it and make it better!
