Christian swallowed the bile that crawled up his throat as he stared down at the photo. They took Spencer to another room and left him in an unused interrogation room to offer any knowledge that he may know.
The door opened, and Taggert appeared, followed by Curtis. "Can I go now? I told you everything that I know," Christian asked as he stood up. "Yeah, you can leave. Thanks for.your cooperation,"
"If I find out that your folks had any involvement in this, you all will feel a different kind of hell," Taggert voiced. Christian paused, and so did Curtis and Jordan, unaware of Taggert's knowledge. Christian slowly turned. The threat didn't sit well with him. "You've already done that...years ago, that didn't do shit but make us stronger," Christian scoffed before storming away. Christian heart pounded against his chest.
The torture tactic.
The warehouse design is in the background.
The fact that the photo was sent to Taggert's number.
He knew who was behind it.
But how? He was confused about the link between Esme, Heather, and his mother. "When on earth could that have happened," he mumbled as he Uber his way back to Spencer's home for his car.
***********
"We've just finished speaking with your new friend," Taggert told Spencer as he entered the room. "Friend is a strong term; we're anything but friends." Taggert nodded with Jordan beside him. "You can go, Cassadine," Taggert told him as the questioning from both him and Christian was completed. Spencer didn't hesitate to stand and leave but was stopped by Taggert's voice, "I would advise you and Mr. Valdez to stop interfering with law enforcement investigation; it slows us down," Jordan commented as Spencer reached the door.
He scoffed.
"You got your first suspect and witness because of us; you're fucking welcome," Spencer angrily stated as he stormed from the room. "Young man!" Taggert called behind him as he ran Spencer down.
"Taggert! All of this bullshit is wasting time! We've wasted hours being here to be questioned by incapable cops!! Why the fuck did you call us in when you ALL know that we're not involved! You and Curtis are too fucking calm for what's happening!!" Spencer exploded at the older male.
"I don't need to explain shit to you, but I am the furthest from calm! I have to be calm to find my fucking daughter!" Taggert exploded in return before Curtis stepped in. "For heaven's sake, Spencer, to stay on this case, Taggert and I need to prove that we can keep a steady head; that doesn't mean we're not feeling like you are! Spiraling won't get you anywhere!" Curtis continued, and Spencer scoffed.
"Well, pardon me for spiraling. I do not believe in this police department, even with your three involvement. Shit, it's not like you all ever do a proper investigation; you find planted evidence and run with it even when you all know the latter! How long did Trina have to suffer before she was finally free? You knew better and didn't try hard enough! You expect me to believe that you can now!" Spencer brought up Trina's trial and the mishandling of that situation.
"Spencer calm it the fuck down; she was doing her job," Curtis defended Jordan, and Spencer laughed. "Well, of course you'd say that," The younger male raised his hands and dropped them back to his side in disbelief. "Y'all arrested Heather on evidence that was then used to exonerate her back into the free world and allowed her daughter to live luxuriously because she had no memory of her crimes," Spencer continued venting in front of the police department. "A clean slate for both of them to strategize their new way of terror, BRAVO! Amazing work!"
