The Teen Titans were enjoying a rare day off, and the Tower was unusually quiet. Beast Boy and Raven had taken advantage of the calm to retreat to the rooftop, where they could enjoy the serenity and the view of Jump City without interruption.
Beast Boy was sprawled out on a blanket, his arms folded behind his head, staring up at the clear blue sky. Raven sat beside him, her legs crossed, reading a book. The two of them often sought out these quiet moments together, where they could simply be in each other's presence without the chaos of their usual lives.
As the afternoon sun cast a warm glow over them, Beast Boy glanced over at Raven and grinned. "Hey, Rae?"
"Hmm?" Raven responded, not looking up from her book.
"Have you ever thought about how many times we've saved the world?" Beast Boy asked, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Raven raised an eyebrow, turning a page. "Not really. Why?"
"Well, I was thinking," he continued, sitting up and leaning closer to her. "What if we had a counter? You know, like a scoreboard, for every time we save the world. How many do you think we'd have?"
Raven closed her book, now intrigued. "I don't know, Gar. Probably a lot. Why?"
Beast Boy shrugged, his grin widening. "Just wondering if we could get to a million."
Raven couldn't help but smile at his playful attitude. "A million? That's a bit ambitious, don't you think?"
"Maybe," Beast Boy admitted, "but I like the idea of keeping track. It'd be kind of cool to know how many times we've made a difference."
Raven looked at him thoughtfully. "I suppose it would be interesting. But I think the number isn't as important as the fact that we do it together."
Beast Boy's expression softened, and he reached out to take her hand. "Yeah, you're right. It's all about teamwork."
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, their hands intertwined. The sound of seagulls and distant waves provided a soothing background, and Raven found herself relaxing more than she had in days.
"Hey, Rae?" Beast Boy said again, breaking the silence.
"Yes, Gar?" she replied, squeezing his hand gently.
"Do you remember the first time we saved the world together?" he asked, a nostalgic look in his eyes.
Raven smiled. "Of course. It was terrifying, but we did it."
Beast Boy chuckled. "Yeah, we did. And we've done it so many times since then. But you know what's my favorite number?"
Raven tilted her head, curious. "What's that?"
"Zero," Beast Boy said, his grin returning.
"Zero?" Raven echoed, puzzled. "Why zero?"
"Because zero is the number of times I've regretted any moment we've spent together," he explained softly. "Even the tough ones, because they've brought us closer."
Raven felt her heart swell at his words. She leaned in and kissed him gently, her book forgotten. "Zero is a good number, Gar."
As they pulled back, Beast Boy's eyes sparkled with joy. "Yeah, it is."
They spent the rest of the afternoon on the rooftop, talking, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company. They knew that as long as they had each other, they could face anything. And in that moment, with the world at peace and their hearts full, zero truly was the best number of all.
