Sand quickly grabbed all his belongings and rushed out of his mother's house, sprinting down the sidewalk as fast as he could. When he finally reached the bus stop, he checked the sign and saw that the next bus wouldn't arrive for another ten minutes. Knowing he couldn't afford to wait, he decided to run the rest of the way.
The streets were bustling with people going about their evening routines, but Sand weaved through them, his determination propelling him forward. His lungs burned, and his legs ached, but he kept pushing, driven by the need to see Ray and make things right.
By the time he reached the hospital, he was drenched in sweat and gasping for breath. He took a moment to catch his breath before entering, wiping his face with the sleeve of his jacket. As he made his way to Ray's room, his heart pounded with a mix of anxiety and anticipation.
When he finally reached the door to Ray's room, he paused for a moment to compose himself. Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door open and stepped inside andWhat he saw inside made him stop dead in his tracks.
Ray was standing, albeit with the support of a walker.
"Ray?" Sand's voice was a mix of shock and awe. His eyes widened as he took in the sight of Ray, who was clearly straining but determined, taking small, careful steps.
Ray looked up, and a smile broke across his face when he saw Sand. "Hey," he said, his voice soft but steady. "I didn't expect to see you here."
Sand stepped into the room, unable to tear his eyes away from Ray. "I... I didn't expect to see you standing," he said, a smile slowly spreading across his face. "This is amazing, Ray."
Ray took a deep breath, focusing on maintaining his balance. "It's been a tough few days, but Sun has been a great help. I wanted to surprise you, to show you that I'm not giving up."
Sand's eyes filled with tears as he moved closer. "Ray, I'm sorry... I should've told you the truth from the beginning, but I was too scared that you'd leave me..." He cupped Ray's cheek gently, feeling the warmth of his skin against his palm.
Ray leaned into Sand's touch, his eyes glistening. "Where have you been?" he asked, his voice soft and filled with emotion. "I was getting worried about you. It's been pretty lonely without someone next to me all day." He smiled, though there was a hint of sadness in his expression.
Sand's heart ached at Ray's words. "I needed some time to think, to figure things out," he admitted, his voice trembling slightly. "I stayed with my mom for a few days. I'm so sorry I left you alone, Ray. I should've been here with you."
Ray shook his head slightly, still nuzzling into Sand's hand. "I understand, Sand. But I need you to be honest with me from now on. No more lies, no more secrets. We need to trust each other."
Sand nodded, a tear slipping down his cheek. "I promise, Ray. No more lies. I'll be completely honest with you from now on."
Ray smiled, his eyes softening. "That's all I needed to hear," he whispered. "I'm just glad you're here now."
Sand leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to Ray's forehead. "I'm here, Ray. And I'm not going anywhere."
So does this mean you've liked me the whole time?" Ray said, smirking as he pulled away from Sand's embrace.
Sand's face turned pink, and he stuttered, "Ever since I first laid eyes on you..."
Ray's smirk softened into a more serious expression. "So, how did you end up kissing Sun in the club that night?" he questioned, his eyes searching Sand's for the truth.
Sand took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts. "Well, you see, I was coming to surprise you since I told you I wasn't coming. But before I could reach you, Sun caught my attention. She just said she wanted to talk, so I agreed."
Ray listened intently, his expression unreadable.
"She told me she missed our friendship and that seeing me again brought back a lot of memories," Sand continued. "I was caught off guard, and when she leaned in, I kissed her. It was a moment of confusion, and I regret it deeply. The moment it happened, I realized how much I wanted to be with you, not her."
Ray nodded slowly, taking in Sand's words. "So, it wasn't because you still have feelings for her?"
Sand shook his head emphatically. "No, Ray. Seeing Sun again brought up a lot of memories, but it also made me realize how much you mean to me. I don't want to be with her. I want to be with you."
Ray's eyes softened, and he reached out to take Sand's hand. "Thank you for telling me the truth," he said quietly. "I can understand why it happened, but it still hurt. I need to know that I can trust you."
Sand squeezed Ray's hand. "You can, Ray. I promise. I'm here for you, and I won't let anything come between us again."
Sand leaned down, placing his lips on Ray's. His lips felt so soft, and Ray melted into the kiss, all the tension and uncertainty of the past months fading away. It was a gentle, tender kiss, filled with the promise of a new beginning.
When they finally pulled apart, Sand looked into Ray's eyes, his own filled with emotion. "I love you, Ray," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Ray smiled, feeling a warmth spread through him. "I love you too, Sand," he replied, his voice equally soft but full of conviction.
They stayed like that for a moment, holding each other close, savoring the intimacy and the connection they shared. It was a perfect, quiet moment that spoke volumes about their journey and their future together.
Sand gently brushed a strand of hair from Ray's forehead, his fingers lingering on Ray's skin. "Let's take it one day at a time," he said, his voice steady and reassuring. "We'll figure everything out together."
Ray nodded, feeling a sense of peace he hadn't felt in a long time. "One day at a time," he echoed, leaning into Sand's embrace.
