Heeseungs POV:
My eyes shot open when I felt my blood rush through my body. I quickly sat up, my eyes wandered around the scenery. It was...the place I died at. But everything with a red hue. I pulled myself up and looked around, awaiting for him. "Take me back. Please."
"She must be very special." A deep, sinister voice emerged from behind me. I turned around swiftly, only to come face to face the most soulless eyes I'll ever encounter—The gaze of The Devil himself.
"Lee Heeseung. What is your desire?" My body felt weak. His dark, shady, intimidating appearance watched over me. "To be reunited with my wife." I uttered, as my thoughts consumed of her. My only concern was to see her again. To hold her once more, to feel her presence, to cherish her beauty. I couldn't bear to be without her; she was my anchor, my everything.
As his sinister laugh echoed, my expression soured. "I sense no fear in you. You have determination. Unfortunately, that won't work down here...in hell." He taunted, a smirk dancing on his lips. "Do you seek redemption?"
"Of course I do." I lowered my gaze as he sat down in a chair he created before me. "You've taken lives. Ended many." His gaze piercing, a mischievous smile formed on his lips in response. "Therefore," He paused, extending me a sword made up of blood that I had shed. "You will confront the lives you have taken away. They number twenty three."
My face paled as the nerves in me flickered. "God won't save you, nor can I. Fate holds no sway here. Only you can rescue yourself. God cannot heed your prayers. Wishing will not avail against me. It's the strength, determination, and courage that can save you."
"We will begin." He snaps his fingers and corpses arise from the ground. Panic evades in my body. Can I do this? Twenty three corpses against one. I swing my sword against the corpses surrounding me, as determination fills me. I will do it for Y/n. I will fight for her.
They manage to make a few hits on me, but so far I've taken down around ten corpses. The Devil scrutinizes every move I make, dispensing more anxiety towards me. With each kill, I grow weaker while they grow stronger. "This—isn't fair!" I protested, feeling the weight of fatigue as I strike down another. Only five left. Gasping for breath, I'm suddenly struck in my lower back. "Damn it!" I turned around and swiftly decapitated the corpse as another plunges into my side where I was first hit back in the above. Locking eyes with the corpse and I felt the warm blood escape my body.
"No, no, no, no!" I cried out as I collapsed onto my back. The corpses mercilessly stabbed me again and again. Amidst the chaos, The Devil's hysterical laughter pierces the air as they ripped me apart. Blood gushed out of my mouth as one of the takes my arm off, and another amputates my leg. "So close, Heeseung," The Devil taunted. "I will see you very soon."
"This wasn't fair..." I deeply exhaled summoning the last of my strength. Turning my head with every power I had left, I locked eyes with him, my gaze heavy with weariness and despair. He met back with a stoic expression, "I'm The Devil. What do you anticipate?"
"I've failed you my love." I managed to exhale out, as I returned to the land of the living.
