"...but then she just slapped me, without letting me explain why I left." Kenji, who kept following me like a lost puppy, whined and held his basketball in his left hand. I groaned and turned to face him directly, putting my hands on my hips. "How about you stop sleeping with every girl that you see? Don't you think that'd make your cheek feel less painful?"
He simply raised an eyebrow, tilting his head to the left. "Who said anything about my cheek?"
I gave him a confused expression, knowing better than to ask where he got slapped. "Never mind." I replied and continued walking next to him.
Kenji and I have been friends since we were eight years old. And I really liked that guy, I just didn't tolerate his fuckboy behavior. How hard must it be for a guy to focus on one girl?
And people had the audacity to ask me why I'm still single.
I watched as his gaze changed into a sad one. Of course, I immediately stopped in my tracks and put my hand on his shoulder to stop him as well. "Why do you look like that? Did you loose a game?"
No reply.
I smiled gently and patted his shoulder. "Hey, the next one will be better. You can't always be the winner, would be boring."
But something told me that this wasn't the reason for his frown. I watched him throw his head in his hands and got worried. He was never like this, he was the kind of sarcastic guy who would never show any vulnerability.
"Are you okay?" I asked and heard a big sigh coming out of his mouth. He shook his head and looks at me through his fingers. "Lia, I don't wanna do this anymore. Don't wanna be like this."
I tilted my head to the side. "What?"
He leaned against the lockers, getting smirking looks from every girl that walks past him, some even touching his arm slightly. "This." He just said and looked at me with desperation.
His words confused me, which he noticed. "I am sick of being like him."
Oh.
He was talking about his dad, who slept with every women possible. I knew that this day would come where he finally realized that he didn't have to be like his dad, just because he thought he couldn't do better.
"What does that mean?" I asked, not quite sure where he was going with this.
"I have to stop," he nodded. "How? It's not like I can stop myself so easily. It's not like I hate the attention I get."
I leaned my head against the lockers, trying to find a good solution. Then, after a moment of thinking hard, I let out a gasp. "You have to get a girlfriend."
He laughed, until he didn't. "What? You're joking. I'm not exactly boyfriend material."
Ah, he wasn't wrong.
"Well, fake it then." I shrugged my shoulder and smiled slightly at my own idea. "Get yourself a fake girlfriend."
He looked at me like I just told him to jump off a train while it's driving. I sighed, explaining my idea.
