THE NEXT DAY

Paige POV

I woke up in the morning all drowsy and tired. I brought myself up and went to eat breakfast, I ate cereal and went straight to the bathroom. I put on mascara, little eyeshadow, faded lip liner and Vaseline: lip therapy. I put on my clothes and messaged some people. I waited for it to be 7:50am to go to school.

Once it was 7:50 I quickly put my shoes on, got my bag and went to the car. When my mom started driving the car I quickly put on some music and put my head back. When we arrived at the school, I got Bailey out of the car, and we walked to the front gate then went our separate ways. I went straight to Elie, Helena, Keiara, Natalia and Juan. We started messing around and talking till the bell rang then we went to class.

I sit in a group with Juan and Carlos, not the best but I try to deal with them. We got out our word of the day notebook and write down the word, guess the state of speech it's in and write down what we think the definition is. The person I mostly get along with is Juan. I have my good and bad days with Carlos, mostly bad to be honest.

"Paige, name of speech and definition." Mrs. Perez asked me the word of the day.

"The name of speech is a verb, and the definition is to be sad or upset." I replied.

As I am just going through conclusions in my mind, I am having a hard time hearing what is going on around me. After we are done doing the word of the day, we start reading chapter twenty-six of the book The call of the wild. I keep up with reading, but something just keeps occupying my mind. Juan passes me a piece of paper which had the written words of

"Why do you like Fernando"

I told him quietly that he didn't need to know why I like him. When Carlos asked me why I like Fernando I froze. I didn't know what to say. All I knew was that I fell for him because of his act of kindness. The way he looks when he does his work and his personality that I knew in front of me but not his personality at home.

"That is none of your business why I like him." I told him coldly.

Carlos looked at me wondering if I was going to tell him anyway, but he soon gave up. After we read three to five chapters of the call of the wild, we started working on the packet answering the questions. I was doing my work peacefully when I got another note passed to me.

"Are you going to tell me why you like Fernando?"

I gave Juan my look of annoyance and rolled my eyes not listening to him nor paying him any attention which was a mistake. Once I started ignoring him, he kept on asking me the same question over and over and over again! Soon it got annoying, and I told him the reason. After I told him he almost gave me an entire lecture on how wrong I was about his brother.

"Juan, we get it, your brother is a complete player! But you never know if he can change. He may have played with Lupita's feelings, but he sure won't play with mine." I replied in a calm manner

After the first period I went to recess and talked with Elie for quite a while. She kept asking me how Juan was doing in class, and I rolled my eyes. She had a big crush on Juan, the brother of my crush but I didn't let that bother me. We both kept talking about the brothers, but we were soon interrupted by the sound of the bell calling us into class. Me and Elie said we would see each other in an hour which was true.

In math class I was already tired. I was sleepy for some reason. I'm always tired around math class and it doesn't really bother my grade. I worked hard for my grade which was a B+ but it was good. Mr. Benedict, our math teacher, called my name to answer a question which pulled me out of my zoned-out mode.

I quickly answered the question and kept working. After about forty minutes, my class shifted to history class. Which is my favorite subject, but my history teacher wasn't all that great. I always read in Ms. Meeks class which wasn't a problem. She never called me out on it.

Which was a good thing because I was always getting my work done on my own time. Ms. Meek didn't seem to be bothered by how I got my work done or how I got it done just as long as I did it. I didn't always get a hundred percent in her class, but I always tried my best. Ms. Meek has her off days, where she is upset or angry, but she is a good teacher and a good person. When I ask her if I can go to the bathroom, she lets me without hesitation.

"Ms. Meek?" I called her name.

"Yes?" she replied.

"Can I go to the bathroom?" I asked her quietly.

She nodded her head, and I went directly to the bathroom. I do a lot of thinking in there, sometimes I fight with my thoughts. I wash my hands and look in the bathroom mirror, when the door opens. Elie walks in and looks at me, we both start bursting out in laughter.

"Mr. Benedict is strict on going to the bathroom. How did you-?" I was asking her a question when she sort of cut me off.

"I asked him after I answered a math question." she responded before laughing.

"Oh, did you answer it correctly?" I questioned.

"Yes, I did." she replied carefully.
