❝ I walked out of the back door, following the path leading to the beach. It was already sunset and the sky was shimmering in purple and pink.
I believe there is nothing more beautiful than this. This particular sunset. It can match the beauty of anything in this world ten times over.
No matter what's happened, you can feel the tension of the day drifting away and out to sea.
I want to memorize it all, because you never know the last time you'll see a place, a person.
I take my shoes off, walking close to the water. It's hitting my feet every time there is a wave.
I close my eyes, breathing deeply. And then I let myself fall onto my knees, burying my face in my hands.
And then I let everything out. I cry and cry and cry, until there are no more tears left. Thinking about Susannah, Jeremiah, the beach house. Thinking about everything that has been bothering me.
That was what I needed.

When I get back to the beach house, I can see Conrad and Belly in the kitchen, it seems like they are still talking about the house thing.
I leave them be and go upstairs towards my room.
I stop when I see Jeremiah lying on his half covered bed, the door to his room opened. He seems to be frustrated by the bedsheet.
I smile, standing in the doorframe, "You'd think someone would have invented an easier system by now."
"If I wasn't so fucking tired, I'd probably leave tonight," I can hear the frustration in his voice. He is still fed up, understandably. "My mom would always fix everything up before we got here."
He sits up and I sit down right next to him onto the bed. "Yeah, the house feels different without her in it." My voice is more of a whisper than anything.
I'm tired too. I'd rather leave tonight too. But how could I leave with everything going down?
"I'm still so pissed at Conrad. I mean, what is he even talking about with this whole house thing?"
