Max's POV

I woke up Saturday hoping I hadn't actually cum thinking of that girl, but the tissue on my nightstand was a reminder that I in fact had. I got up realizing I had to put that past me. Today was a new day and I had to go get Kelly from the airport. I cleaned up my room for any signs of what I did, got dressed and left. My heart beat quickened as I neared her gate. "Baby!" She yelled as she ran up to me. I picked her up in my arms and she straddled her legs around me as we embraced. "Hi Kels." I said before giving her a kiss. I placed her down and we headed back to the hotel.

We got in my room and Kelly placed her things down. "Do you want to go out to eat?" I asked as she walked around the room. "Yeah that would be nice. I might've flown first class, but nothing beats an actual meal." She said, turning back and smiling. She returned her attention to my desk where I realized the card layed. Her slender fingers picked up the white paper reading the name on it. "Who's Y/N?" She asked looking at the card then me. I was confused because there was no name on that card beside Polytech Athletics. "Who?" I asked. "That's a card for some athletic company I thought." I added. She turned the card over, something I clearly hadn't thought of doing in my distracted state last night. "Oh..." She said, her voice low. I breathed out a sigh, grateful she seemed to be fine. I wouldn't want to do anything to hurt her feelings. "You know it's just funny you kept this." She said, and I felt my heart beat pick up again. "You only ever wear Red Bull clothes or things I pick out for you." She let out a dry laugh. I watched as she played with the card in her hand. "So-" Her eyes snapped up to mine. "You know. It's just funny." I walked up to her and held her hands. "I promise the card means nothing. All that happened was that-" I cut myself off thinking about how she might respond if I told her the truth. Her lips formed a thin line across her face and she grew impatient for my response. "I was walking and this woman was practically shoving her business cards in people's faces. It was honestly really embarrassing. She probably would've attacked me if I didn't take one. I must have forgotten to throw it out when I got back." I said, trying to take the card from Kelly's hands. "Show me your phone." She said her hands were firm on the card and her eyes were boring into mine. "What?" I was confused as to why she needed it. "If you didn't call her, you would have no problem showing me your phone." I felt like I could've thrown up. Like I had just been caught with my hand in the cookie jar. "Kels don't be like this. Why can't you just trust me." I said. I was trying to sound as innocent as possible, but I felt so guilty. "Show. Me. Your. Phone." She said, emphasizing every word. Suddenly her demeanor changed and her next words were much softer. "You know I just want the best for you Max." She said closing the gap between us. "I don't want to come off jealous, but I know you and I know what is best for you. I just don't want you doing anything you might regret." She said, her hands now holding my shoulders in an almost maternal way. "You don't have to show me your phone Max. I trust you." I felt bad now. How could I have done this to her? "I'm so sorry baby." I heard my voice start to choke up. "I just called the athletics department and nothing else. I don't even know why I did." I said as I felt a tear fall down my face and her hand wiping it away.

She pulled me into a hug and I hugged her back. She pulled me away and held my face in her hands. "You are the only one who truly understands me Max, and I am certainly the only one who understands you, so we can't be letting things like this get in our way." Her words jolted me. I guess she was the only one who knew me, but to hear her say it made me feel weird. "I know. I'm sorry baby." I said, placing a kiss on her forehead. "Alright, since everything is ok, let's go out to eat. We passed a nice place on the way here. I think we could try." She said. "I'm not sure I feel up to going out, but I want you to enjoy the day. Why don't you go and I'll stay here?" I suggested. Kelly nodded her head and grabbed her bag. "I love you" She said as she walked out of the door. "I love you too."

I listened as her footsteps grew quieter and I released a breath I didn't know I was holding. Whenever I was with her it was like I was scared of disappointing her and it was taking a toll on me. I didn't know if I could take it anymore.

As I sat on my bed, I got a call from Ray, my manager. "Hello?" I said into the phone. "Hey Max! I just wanted to shoot you a reminder that we have that meeting with those sponsors Monday morning." I had totally forgotten. "Yup. Ray, I remembered don't worry. Just send me the details again. I lost the original email." At least I didn't feel guilty lying to him. "You got it man. See you soon." And with that he hung up. I looked at the email he sent me and my stomach dropped. How could I have forgotten? My new sponsor was Y/N.
