Y/N's POV
After I got that email I spent the rest of the day doing... research. I found out everything there is to know about Max Verstappen. I justified this stalker behavior as me getting to know my new business partners. It was simply a strategic move on my part. What I learned is that he is a formula 1 driver and he has a girlfriend. Based on her instagram they seem pretty serious, which I guess is a good thing. I cannot mix business with pleasure anyway. That is how shit gets messy.
The next day I was going to have a meeting with all the athletes, so I was extremely nervous to say the least. Part of me was a little embarrassed after what happened last night. Imagining Max that way, but I hadn't known. And I'm literally just a girl.
I struggled to fall asleep that night, but finally it was Monday morning. I got dressed and tried to look both professional and lowkey hot. Subconsciously I might have been trying to impress Max, but I just told myself 'look good, feel good, do good'. Nothing more. I got to the office and met with the CEO of Castore, Tom Beahon. "Goodmorning!" I said as we shook hands. "Goodmorning, Miss. Y/L/N. I'm very excited to work with you." Tom said. "As am I." I said, smiling at him. "So, I had my team send you a list of three athletes we plan on creating a line with. Andy Murray, James Tavernier, and Max Verstappen. All three of them are in different sports, so it will be great to show off how versatile our brands are." He said. "That's perfect. I can't wait to meet them!" We walked over to a conference room where the 3 were sitting with their respective managers. "Good Morning everyone. It is very nice to see you all today and I look forward to working with all of you. My name is Y/N Y/L/N and I'm the founder and CEO of Polytech Athletics. Our goal is to create high performance athletic wear for all types of sports. Having such a diverse group of athletes is going to be great!" I said this all with a smile as my assistant handed out documents for the men to look over.
After a few hours of talking back and forth the meeting was over and I had successfully become the sponsor of 3 athletes alongside one of the biggest athletic companies in all of Great Britain. As the men each left the room I turned to Tom. "I just want to thank you for giving me and my company this opportunity. I promise we will not let you down." We both stood up and shook hands again. "I'm sure you won't." He said with a smile and left. I waited for him to leave the room and then sat my ass back in one of the chairs. "Do you think I did good?" I asked, looking at my assistant. "Yes! Y/N that meeting couldn't have gone any better. You are really taking off." Even though I pretty much pay her to say nice things to me, her words calmed me down. "Thank you Laurie. I'll clean up the rest." I said, giving her a smile. "Are you sure?" She asked. "Of course. You've been such a big help and besides I'm still a little nervous and it will give me something to do with my hands." I told her. She smiled and left the room. I got up and began making my way around the table collecting any loose pieces of paper that weren't needed or any coffee cups that got lost on their way to the garbage. I then heard the door open again. "Laurie I told you I got this-" I began to say, but cut myself off as I looked up and saw Max staring at me from the doorway. Our eyes seemed to hold onto each other for a long moment before I realized I should probably speak. "I'm sorry I thought you were someone else." I explained. "I would hope so, or else you just spent the past hour thinking my name was Laurie." We both laughed at the thought. "Laurie is my assistant." I told him. "You know I gathered that." He said laughing slightly again. "Oh! I'm sorry for just blabbing on like this, did you forget something in here?" I said, suddenly coming to my senses. "No! No. But, I think you might have forgotten-" He reached in his pocket for something and pulled out a small card. "This." He reached his hand out towards me, handing it to me. I let out a small laugh. "I have been looking for that." I said, taking the card from his hand. "I can't believe you had it all this time. I should probably try you for theft!" I said, smiling at him. He put on his best worried face. "Please think of my reputation! How can I make it up to you?" He said, his hand pressed against his chest in pretend distress. "Hmmm. I'm not sure. I've never had someone steal something of this significance before." I said. "How about you come to the race this weekend? I'll give you a paddock pass." Max's words shocked me. I tried wiping the giddiness off my face before I spoke. "A paddock pass? What's the market value on one of those? I want to make sure this is a fair trade." I said, trying to look serious. "About £3,000." He said deadpan. A smile creeped along his lips as I stood staring at him. I couldn't believe he would give me something worth this much. I quickly recomposed myself. "You have a deal Mr.Verstappen." I said, out stretching my hand to shake his. But, he didn't reach for mine. "You're welcome, Y/N." He made his way to the door, his demeanor changing ever so slightly. He stopped halfway through the door. "And please call me Max. Mr.Verstappen is my father." He gave me a half-hearted smile, which I matched with a nod and he left. "What just happened?" I whispered to myself as I sat in one of the chairs. This felt like a bad idea, but when have I ever let that stop me?
