Chapter 2 Get to Know

Mars pov

The next day from the previous chapter

I woke up a little earlier than usual to make sure the 'guest' didn't do anything dangerous. I went out to check up on him to make sure he was still asleep. But as expected, he was still asleep, so I went back to my room to get dressed for the day.

I started to make breakfast for all of us when I heard some noise coming from the living room. I turned to see that our 'guest' was awake and wondering where he was. He reminded me of the first time I met them. "Hey bud, it's okay. You're not in danger." But he didn't listen to me and kept panicking. "Seriously you're okay." But then he looked at me with a stern face like I said his name. "Seriously?" Then he gave me a 'really' face. "Ceres?" When I said that, he started to creep close to me. "Is your name Ceres?" I asked him, and he nodded 'yes' at me. So he can understand me, okay?

As I continued to make breakfast, he walked over to the kitchen, sat on one of the bar stools, and watched me cook just like them. Then I heard two familiar voices. "Good morning, dad." Said my sons Phobos and Deimos. "Morning to you guys, two," I said to my sons. But then I heard their feet stop as they realized someone was here with us in the house. I turned to see Phobos protecting his little brother Deimos. But I also see Ceres looking at Phobos and Deimos in a way like he knows them. "Dad, who is he?" Phobos asked me. "That is Ceres, our guest. And he will be staying with us for a little bit." I told him.

But he and Deimos went to sit at the table away from Ceres. But as they were walking, I saw Ceres give me a look like he was mad at me. I was about to ask him what was wrong with him until I was interrupted. "Dad, when is he leaving?" I then heard Phobos say, and Ceres gave me that look again. "Are you pronouns, not he/him?" I asked him. And he nodded his head in response. "Are you pronouns she/her?" I asked, and she shook her head. "Are you they/them?" I asked, and they nodded their head. "So they/them okay."

A few minutes later, I was done with breakfast. "Boys come get your breakfast," I shouted at Phobos and Deimos, and they came racing into the kitchen to get their plates. Once they grabbed their plates, they went to the living room to watch whatever was streaming on the Nickelodeon channel. I slid Ceres's plate to them, and they started eating. I looked at the way they sat, and the way they ate, and even the look in their eyes just reminded me of them. Even their name reminded me of them. But they are in my dreams. They are in another solar system. I then start to eat my food just thinking of them. But then I realized that Ceres was just weirdly staring at me.

After everyone was done eating, I cleaned up and made sure Phobos and Deimos had everything for school. "Bye Dad," they said in unison. I escorted them outside to make sure they got on the bus. After that, I went back to cleaning the kitchen. After I was done, I realized I had some old clothes in the back of my closet. I got them out, but they needed to be washed, so I threw them into the washer. After all of that, I saw Ceres sitting on the couch, and I sat right next to them. We sat there for a few minutes until I realized I hadn't told them my name. "Hey, umm, Ceres, my name is Mars. And sorry for not telling you yet." I said to Ceres, and they looked at me in surprise like they knew me.

But then I realized if they were in rags, that meant they hadn't had a bath in a while. "Hey Ceres, are you okay with taking a bath?" I ask them. In response, I get a nod. So I lead them to my bathroom and start up the water. Then, a very important question came to mind. "Hey, do you know how to bathe yourself?" And unfortunately, they shook their head. I tell them, "Okay I will add bubbles to the bath to cover up your body and turn around while you are getting undressed." They nod their head, understanding the situation.

After the tub was full, I put in the bubbles and turned around. "Okay, now get undressed and make a noise, so I know you ate(I'm leaving it but it is supposed to be "are". But I am leaving it for the humor.) in the tub." After around three minutes, I hear a bang on the wall, so I turn around to see Ceres in the tub. "Okay, now I'll start washing you, okay?" I started by getting some shampoo to wash their hair. "Okay, close your eyes so the soap doesn't get in your eyes," I said to them, and they followed my directions. After that, I grab the cup. "Can you lean your head back?" And they lean their head back. Then, I use the cup to rinse their hair. "Now it's conditioner time," I say in a friendly tone. Once again, they turned their head back so I could rinse out the container.

When I was done, I went to the dryer to grab the clothes and brought them back to the bathroom. "You pull this plug to drain the water, okay? Then, you can dry yourself off with the towel and get dressed." And they nodded, understanding the directions. I left the bathroom and sat on my bed.
