Gabriel hadn't actually expected for his girlfriend, Amelia Shepherd to go Seattle and stay there as Gabriel wanted to take that next step in their relationship, so he followed her instead of staying in L.A by himself after quitting his trauma job at St Ambrose and calling an old friend to say that he's back in Seattle.
"Gabriel Carter,"
Richard Webber smiled when he saw Gabriel Carter standing in the now Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, looking around, "Richard." Gabriel hugged the man, "It's good to see you." He stated, as Richard nods his head, "I've spoke to our chief, but you'll need to—"
Gabriel furrowed his eyebrows, "You're not the chief anymore?" Richard shook his head as Gabriel frowned, "What happened when I was away?" He said, as Richard shook his head, "A lot has happened."
He knew that the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital was named after Lexie Grey and Mark Sloan who the hospital had lost from the Bosie plane crash.
"Gabriel."
Richard said, his hand coming to Gabriel's arm who snapped out of it, "Sorry." He stated as Richard nods his head, "It's all right, how was LA?"
Gabriel smiled at the mention of the place, "It was nice being there for two years, but I missed Seattle." He said, which was a small lie, he missed his girlfriend, "Or is it because you missed Amelia?"
Gabriel opened his mouth to explain as Richard chuckled, "Addison told me everything," He stated as Gabriel cursed underneath his breath at his redhead friend's big mouth, "Ok, I did, I miss my girlfriend, I hear she's doing a surgery today," Richard hummed, "She's doing a combined surgery with Derek and fourty other surgeons, which includes me," Richard stated as Gabriel then nods his head, "I can—I can come back tomorrow or—"
Richard looked around when seeing Owen Hunt coming towards them, "Here's our chief now," Owen stopped, when looking at the man, "Gabriel," The chief said when Gabriel half smiled at his old friend, "Owen, long time no see."
Hunt looked at him knowing that Gabriel had obviously come back for his job, "I already have an attending for Trauma, but I think I can find a spot for you here,"
Gabriel smiled at that, "Great." He said, shaking Owen's hand before leaving the new chief with his old chief, turning the corner when he bumped into someone.
"Sorry, I wasn't looking where I—" Meredith stopped when seeing Gabriel Carter standing in front of her, holding her arms, "Gabriel," The said male smiled when seeing Meredith, "Meredith, hi." The two hugged, "What are you doing back here? I thought you moved to LA?"
"I was but I wanted to come back." He admitted as Meredith looked at him, "Well, Derek will be happy to see you," Gabriel looked at his friends's wife, nodding his head but deep down, he knew that his friend would punch him if he knew the truth about why he was back, "I have to go to surgery, but I'm around so let me know how long you'll be here for." Gabriel smiled, hugging Meredith again who pulled back with a smile before walking away.
Gabriel looked at Meredith, "Meredith," The said female stopped in her tracks, turning around to look at where Gabriel was, "Don't tell Derek I'm back, I was gonna surprise him." Meredith nods her head at that, with a small smile before rounding the corner and walking away.
____
"Derek Shepherd."
The said male turned around when seeing his friend who had gotten shot at the same time as him, came towards him, "Gabriel Carter," Derek smiled, "Long time no see," He stated as Gabriel hugged his friend, "I hear that Cristina is still around here."
Cristina and Gabriel used to have a thing before Owen Hunt came and ruined their relationship, as Gabriel then moved to Los Angeles after the shooting where Cristina needed to operate on him, "I saw Meredith as well," Gabriel admitted when his girlfriend came out of an scan room.
"Gabriel?"
The said male half smiled, "Amelia, hey." He looked at where his girlfriend was, "What are you doing here?" She asked her boyfriend, confused on why he came all this way, "I quit St Ambrose," He admitted, "I missed working here with my friends."
Derek half smiled at that, "Did you and Amy work a lot in LA?" Derek asked his friend about his little sister, "Yeah, actually we worked together a lot," He said, smiling at where Amelia stood, looking at her boyfriend knowing how protective her older brother could get, "Actually, Derek, we're dating."
"I'm dating Gabriel,"
Amelia repeated, looking at her brother who stopped in his step, looking in between the two, before coming to where Gabriel stood, knowing what happened when Derek found out about Mark and Lexie, "Treat her right." Derek told his friend, a hand on his shoulder as Gabriel nods his head, "Of course, I—I wouldn't treat her any other way,"
And when Derek walked away, Amelia looked at her boyfriend, "That wasn't funny, seriously, Gabriel, what are you doing here?" She asked him again as Gabriel looked down at his girlfriend, "I'm coming back to Seattle." He stated about quitting his job at St Ambrose which Charlotte wasn't happy about.
"How did Charlotte take the news?" Gabriel shakes his head, "Not great," He admitted as Amelia nods her head, as the two walked side by side, "Where are you staying?"
Amelia looked at her boyfriend, "I'm staying with Meredith and Derek, do you want me to—?" Gabriel shakes his head, "No, I never sold my place," He admitted about his apartment which was near to Mark and Callie's apartment, "What? You've been paying for an apartment when you've been in LA?" Amelia asked her boyfriend who nods his head, "Yeah."
He knew at some point, he was gonna see his father due to the fact that Annabelle had called him saying that their father is getting sicker and sicker by the day, "I—I'll see you later," He admitted seeing his sister call him again, "I need to—answer this," He said, stepping away after kissing her head.
