"Where do you get all this to cook?"
Later that same evening, Taehyung wakes up after a short nap. The swelling on his foot is almost gone now and it even hurts less after the bandage. He wants to wash up and change clothes before sleeping but he decides to ask Jeongguk later for a few spare clothes. Or if he can get Taehyung something new.
Speaking of the man, Taehyung finds the Alpha in the kitchen. Preparing for their meal. The small house is double story, there is only one room on the second floor, which is the bedroom they stayed last time. And a bathroom beside it. Downstairs, there is the living room or the lounge area and the kitchen. The house is over all airy and well-lit, made up of fine wood and bricks.
Once again, Taehyung wonders how on Earth Jeongguk managed to make it– if he did it himself.
So now when he leisurely watches the Alpha move around in the kitchen to cook dinner, he has endless questions to ask him.
"Come on, tell me how you get all this," he gestures around to all the spices and vegetables and meat.
Jeongguk sighs as he looks up, he always has this look that he is bothered by anything Taehyung says. But since he never verbally complains, Taehyung also refuses to acknowledge that he perhaps bothers the Alpha.
"I hunt," the Alpha finally replies.
"You can't hunt vegetables?" Taehyung counters, "I doubt vegetables grow outside in that... dense forest. It is probably filled with poisonous plants and nothing more." He is merely curious but the more he thinks about it, the more suspicious it all gets.
"There is a world beyond these trees, Omega. I am not sure where you came from but I could tell you were sheltered and pampered," he says flatly.
Although, it is somewhat the truth but still it offends Taehyung to hear it like that. "You know where I come from, they also taught me not to be unnecessarily rude to someone. I was taught politeness and–"
"You were quite polite last night," Jeongguk nods to himself, "Wanted to be bred and knotted."
Taehyung gasps loudly, ears turning pink. He averts his gaze from the Alpha, "Couldn't you be any more crass?" He lifts his hands to cover his heated ears.
"Oh, I could be," Taehyung muffles his giggles with his hand as he hears the Alpha reply.
For the rest of the time, he avoids asking such questions which might lead to any more indecent responses.
"Have you lived alone for a long time?" He asks the next question when the meal is served and he takes the first bite. It is delicious. Taehyung can die and be reborn but still not make something as good as this.
Jeongguk nods, not bothered enough to look up. He has showered and changed since he came back after cutting the wood. He now wears a white shirt similar to Taehyung. The material of the shirt feels, although worn and washed, but a fine quality silk– if Taehyung is any good judge of that.
"Did you build this house? It's beautiful," he compliments before Jeongguk may take the question any wrong way.
"No, the land dealer made a good deal, so I rented this thing."
Taehyung almost chokes on the rice, he thankfully catches himself last minute but still takes water to swallow his next bite. "I presume you are joking, which is actually, terrible humor. No offense."
Jeongguk stays quiet and they back to eating. But Taehyung is too curious for his own good. This is all so new to him, he wants to know how one can live and make a home for themself in such wilderness where even the sun doesn't shine for miles– except this little patch of clearing beside the house.
