Chaper Five

The mundane day took its time passing by, it almost seemed as if it wanted to last forever. But thankfully it was 7:30 PM, which meant it was time for you to finally go home. Your coworkers usually left a little earlier, however you had to stay for as long as Shisui did since you were his personal assistant and all.

"And there's that trip to New York soon," Shisui continued to blabber to you. "But we can discuss that later, when we aren't exhausted."

Once you two were out of the Uchiha Corporation building, it was hard to ignore the rain that was pouring hard, with no signs of stopping. Damn, I didn't bring an umbrella, you thought to yourself, regretfully. I guess I have to run to train station.

"[Name]," Shisui's voice croaked, over the sound of the heavy rain. "How will you get home?"
"I'll just take the train," you replied, reassuringly.
"Wait, Sasuke's still in the building. I'll have him drop you off cause he'll be leaving soon too," the kind Uchiha offered. "I'd do it myself but I have to attend yet another business dinner on the other side of town today."
"What?" you asked, hesitantly. "You don't have to go through the trouble, I'll be fine."

Why does he care? you asked yourself. He doesn't have to worry about some assistant, that just started working for him. He was Shisui Uchiha, the Vice President of Uchiha Corporation.

"Don't be silly," the Uchiha chuckled. "It's no trouble. You work for me and I always take good care of my workers."

He sent you a hopeful but crooked smile, to which you nodded in response and mumbled a soft, "Thank you."

Of course, you thought. He simply cares because I'm his assistant, nothing more. Even TenTen had been taken care of by Shisui.

The arrogant Uchiha's heavy sigh filled the silent atmosphere in the luxurious, black Maserati. Although the heater was on, goosebumps had appeared on your arms due to the cold aura that Sasuke Uchiha was currently emitting.

"You seem to have a gift," the Uchiha finally said, after driving in silence for a long time. "For being annoying."

Did he just call me annoying? you asked yourself. I haven't even opened my "smart mouth" yet. Besides, it's not like I wanted to be here, with him.

"This wasn't my idea," you stated, looking out the window. "It was Shisui's."
"Had you carried an umbrella, we wouldn't be here," Sasuke suggested, looking straight ahead at the road.
"I'll carry one next time," you replied, in annoyance. "Just to avoid this."
"Hn," he smirked. "You don't like being with me?"
"Sorry," you answered, still making no eye contact. "But you aren't the most pleasant being."

But this time, instead of scolding you for having a smart mouth as he had done in the past.. he laughed.

He laughed?

"You're not that pleasant either," he finally said, after composing himself again. "I suspect you'll poison my coffee, someday."
"You know what Mr. Sasuke Uchiha," you smirked. "I just might."

"Thank you for the ride," you said, before opening the car door.

It was still raining quite profusely, but you were only a couple steps away from your apartment building. Thanks to Sasuke.

"Wait," the arrogant Uchiha stopped you by grabbing your wrist. "Take this."

You looked at the item he had offered to you, which happened to be his coat. His- probably expensive- black coat.

"Uh," you hesitated to take it. "I don't need this, I'm only a couple steps away from my building."
"Take it," he insisted, firmly. "I don't need you getting sick and missing work."
"Oh, alright.." you said, awkwardly grabbing his coat out of his hands.

You placed it over your head, ready to face the heavy rain with full confidence. You flashed Sasuke one last smile of gratitude, before running out the car in lightning speed. There's no way in hell I'm getting rained on today, you thought to yourself.

"Idiot," Sasuke muttered with a smirk on his face and his hand on the steering wheel.

After a lot of huffing and puffing you finally reached your apartment, thankfully in a dry state. Sasuke's coat really had my back, you thought. Why did he do that, anyways? He seems like the last person in the entire world, to do something nice. Especially for me.

As you continued to contemplate the many reasons behind the arrogant Uchiha's selfless action, you hung up his soaked coat to let it air dry. An Uchiha had given you a ride home. Not just any Uchiha for that matter, but Sasuke Uchiha himself.

"Idiot," you muttered, shaking the thought of the mysterious male out of your muddled mind.
