The pink sky gradually turned a familiar shade of yellow as the sun lazily rose up high above the land. Thankfully, it cut through the lingering cold and slowly warmed up Leafy's body. Her shiny metal coat prevented her from fully benefiting from the sunlight however, as she could no longer passively perform photosynthesis.
It wasn't something she'd ever really thought about before being stuck here. Photosynthesis was just... a thing she did, a subconscious action that came to her like blinking or breathing. Without it, she realized that she had far less energy and stamina, and her mood was frequently quite sour as a result. Did every non-plant Object feel this... wretched? All the time? What a horrifying thought...
Leafy was a little embarrassed by how noisy her breathing was as she trudged up yet another large purple hill. She used to be one of the most active Objects she knew! Walking, jogging, running... it kept her in good health and it was enjoyable for her.
But this darned Yoyle Metal that covered her from top to bottom... it was seriously weighing down her light and delicate plant body. Granted, she hadn't been keeping up with her usual daily exercises lately, but she knew that the metal was definitely not helping!
Finally, she found herself standing at the top and paused to catch her breath. Climbing up the first few hills was exciting, but this was just becoming a chore! She had half a mind to peel the Yoyle Metal right off and jump from hill to hill instead! But... she was pretty sure that wasn't even a thing she could do. Did the metal only change her skin or was it her entire body? Admittedly, she wasn't completely knowledgeable about the whole thing.
She huffed and forced herself to stand up straight so she could take a look around. Please, for the love of branch, let her see something new!
Her eyes were instantly drawn to something that glittered as it cut through the earth. Was she seeing things or was that... a river! An honest-to-goodness body of water that wasn't the Goiky Canal!!
Leafy's entire body trembled with excitement at the prospect of being able to drink and splash around in fresh non-puddle water for the first time in... how long has she even been here for? She probably should have been keeping track of the days.
Well, that was something to lament over later. For now, she just needed to get down this... very steep... cliff. Aw, beans. She was so distracted by the river that she hadn't noticed the very different shape of the land on this side. The "hill" that she had struggled to climb didn't quite slope down like the others. She wasn't prepared to go rock-climbing today!
But, uh... she also hadn't come this far just to give up and walk all the way back in shame. With an irritated sigh, Leafy stowed her knife away in her inventory and began to do some stretches. Was it a bad idea to do this after hours of walking? Probably. But she wanted to get somewhere safer and less exposed as quickly as possible, and the lush vegetation surrounding that river was practically calling her name.
