Regulus sat in his dorm room with James. They were playing a muggle game which involved making a card tower, he had never heard if it before but the name was indeed quite self-explainitory. According to James, it would be no fun with the assistance of magic so that's why muggles play it.

Though at first he questioned the point of the whole thing, Regulus soon mastered the game, stacking cards up so high that he almost needed a chair to reach the top.

That was until, the door of the dorm room was swung open and shut violently, causing the table to shake and the cards to fall.

Regulus sighed irritatedly, while James stared at the pile of cards, as if they were going to rebuild themselves.

"Hello Barty. Didn't hear you come in." Regulus said in a sarcastic manner. Barty looked over at him from where he was pacing marks into the carpet.

"Yeah, hi." He said, exasperatedly, brushing his wavy brown hair back with his hands.
He brushed it just enough back so his, normally hidden, dirty blonde roots could be seen. "James, can you leave?"

"Oi," Regulus called out. "There's such a thing as manners, you know."

Barty rolled his eyes, still pacing back and forth. "James, can you PLEASE leave?"

"Yeah, sure." James complied, standing up.

"Hey, Where's Golden Boy? Wasn't he with you?" Regulus asked, picking up all the cards. Barty threw himself onto Regulus's bed.

"He's staying with Evans tonight. Speaking of that bitch, James can you give her this?" He stuck up his middle finger.

"Okay, first of all," Regulus began. "Get the fuck off my bed. Second of all, why is he staying with Lily? Isn't tonight when you two usually hang out?"

Barty rolled off the bed and onto the floor with a thud. He turned to lie on his back.

"Yes, it is! But he'd rather spend time with his "LITTLE GIRLFRIEND" than me.." Barty complained, his voice breaking at the end of his sentence.

"Wait, they're going out?" James asked. "What about Lily and Mar"

"Broke up, I presume. But what does it matter? Evan asked me to postpone our plans so he could hang out with her. Nearly four fucking years we've had this tradition without fail. Now all of a sudden he breaks it?"

"That doesn't seem like Evan. From all the years you two have been doing that stupid tradition, he has been as keen as anything not to miss it."

"I know Reg. And to top it all off, Evans called me Bartemius. Fucking Bartemius! When I tell you l, the urge to crucio her was so strong."

Barty sat up and leaned his head against his own bed. "Reg, I..... I think I like him, which is making all of this sting more. And, you know, I tried to tell him, today at breakfast, but he brushed me off." He covered his face with his hands. "What am I supposed to do?"

James bounced on the heels of his feet. "I feel like I should go now..." He said awkwardly.

"No. You can stay. Reg needs a good cop in whatever bad cop shit he's planning to say to me."

"Oh fuck you."

"Reg! How could you say such a thing with your boyfriend in the room?" Barty acted appalled, standing up and leaning against his bedpost.

"Barty! Stop joking, this is serious."

"And why should I? Its my problem, I can deal with it however I please." He jumped onto his bed. "And I'm choosing to deal with it by making a joke out of it!"

Regulus and James exchanged glances before Regulus stood up. "I'll walk you to the door, James."

Barty wiggled his fingers back and forth in the means of some odd wave. "Bye Jamesie!" He yelled after the pair as they left the room.

When they got to the common room door, they both paused. Regulus furrowed his eyebrows.

"They're up to something, Evan and Lily. I know it." He stated, looking to James for some form of input. Of course, he did not get any beyond a simple "Huh?"

"Evan is gay, you know. Not bi, not pan, he's gay. So it's already unlikely that he's going out with her for pure love and attraction. It must be a cover up. But for what? Obviously something he doesn't want to be known." He explained, trying to analyse everything he knew about his friend.

"Well, hello Sherlock!" James laughed.

"Who's Sherlock?"

"He's– actually I don't know." He pondered briefly. "... Anyway!  Want me to talk to Evan?"

"Please do! I don't know how long I can deal with that twat." Regulus complained, pointing over his shoulder towards the stairs to the dorms.

James chuckled. "Alright then, I'll try my best." He gave Regulus a kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight, baby Black!"

"Hey! Don't call me baby Black!" He yelled after the leaving boy. He smiled softly. "Goodnight."
