As they all look at these bright red eyes staring at them thought the darkness. "Nobody move. Stay absolutely still." The Doctor said before everyone started to panic. He slowly started moving his hand up to his blazer so he could reach in and grab his sonic.
"Doctor what are you doing?" Larry said when he saw what he was trying to do at the corner of his eye.
"I want to know what it is. I need to scan it." The Doctor answered.
"We should kill it right now before it does to us what it did to the Captain." Casper said.
"Don't be an idiot. This thing would rip us apart before you even go the chance." The Doctor said in anger as he grabbed his sonic. As he pressed down on the button the creature growled at them "It's okay everyone. Stay calm. The sonic just startled it." He said as he tired to keep everyone clam while he scanned the creature. He managed to get a solid reading on the creature before the eyes disappeared back into the darkness.
"Doctor I think we should move before it comes back." Sally said.
He answered back as he checked the readings on his sonic "Yeah... That's a good..." The Doctor stopped what he was saying when he realised what was on the ship with them. Another roar echoed thought out the ship. The Doctor tensed his face "We need to move right now."
"What is it Doctor?" Sally asked.
"No time. We need to get somewhere safe right now." The Doctor said back in panic.
"Encase you hadn't noticed but we're on a wrecked ship with a creature that is going to brutally kill us so, that might be a little different." Casper said.
"Fine stay here. Be it's next meal but we're moving right now." The Doctor said as he turned around and barged past Casper followed by everyone else except Casper. Who stood there on his own in the dark for a couple of minutes until he heard the creatures roar again. It wasn't long before he rushed after everyone else.
"Can you take us to the backup power source?" The Doctor asked Astra.
"Of course. Follow me." Astra said as she took the lead. Once they got there they all rushed inside to see an old fashioned deep space engine drive. This form of space travel hadn't been use properly in centuries. It was all but extinct.
The Doctor scratched the back of his head as he saw this old piece of equipment and said "Really this is your back up power source."
"What was you expecting?" Astra said.
"I don't know after seeing a dead start engine My expectation were pretty high to be honest. I was hoping for some equally impressive nit an engine that all but extinct in this time." The Doctor answered.
Astra sniggered "Sorry to disappoint." She said before she walked over to the drive's control system to see why it hadn't already activated.
"Okay Doctor you really need to tell us what's on this ship with us." Sally demanded.
He looked at her and Larry before saying "It's called a Daegon. It's form a planet called Deuvves."
Astra was checking over the backup power system while The Doctor was talking and it wasn't long before she saw why it wasn't working. There were four claw slashes going right thought the control system for the deep space engine. This was the reason it hadn't already started up because The Daegon had destroyed the control system. "Oh, this is really bad." Astra said as she started accessing the amount of damage that had been done. Casper heard Astra and went over to see what was wrong and when he saw the damage he said in shock.
"My god. Is there any way we can fix this?"
Astra looked at him and said "Honestly from the state of this there's no way it getting fixed before the dead star engine explodes."
"Great." Casper said in despair.
"Doctor you might wanna come and look at this." Astra said to him.
The Doctor came racing over saying "What's the..." Before he could finish what he was saying he saw the destroyed control system.
"Did the Daegon do this?" Larry said.
Astra and Casper's hearts both stopped when they heard that name.
"Did you just say Daegon did this?" Casper said. Larry nodded his head and Casper's face filled with utter untapped fear as he walked back until he hit the wall and slid down to the floor. "We're all going to die on this ship." Casper said as he placed his face in his hands.
"How the hell did a Daegon get on board this ship?" Astra said.
"I don't know but this is very very bad." The Doctor said as he tensed his face.
Larry walked over to Casper, knelt down next to him and said "We're going to get out of this. Trust me."
Casper raise his head and said "I don't think you quite understand how bad this really is." Larry looked back at Sally as she said to The Doctor.
"Doctor how bad is this?"
The Doctor took off his overcoat and slung it over the broken control system before he lent up against it and said. "Oh, this is very very bad. Think of The Daleks and multiply it by ten when you put a ship that could blow up at any point in the middle of it. A Daegon is a top predator that will hunt anything it can eat but, one thing is loves more than killing is the darkness. It's learnt to live within it as it's planet is completely barren and covered in darkness where only the toughest survived. This thing has evolved over thousands of years to live within the darkness as that is the only way it could survive so were it's world now."
"So, it destroyed the backup power so it can hunt us in it's own environment?" Sally asked.
The Doctor answered with " Yeah because a Daegon is smart. It knows it had the upper hand on us in the dark."
"It sounds like we only have one option." Casper said as he pulled himself together.
"Don't say it. Because I might start to agree with you." The Doctor said in anger for himself for what he was thinking.
Casper said without hesitation. " I said it in the hallway. We need to kill it before we all end up like the Captain."
"There had to be another way we can all get out of this without any more bloodshed." Larry said in hope.
"I'm sorry Larry but, I don't think there is another way. This ship is on it's way to a space dock to unload it's cargo so it can be delivered across this galaxy, If the Daegon get to the dock it will rip this galaxy apart and leave a blood bath in its wake before it will spread thought out the rest of the universe leaving nothing alive." The Doctor said.
"So, are you saying we're going to kill it?" Larry asked in disbelief.
"Of course that's what he's saying. Why are you people so against killing?" Casper said.
The Doctor looked atCasper, tensed his face as he couldn't believe what he was about to say. TheDoctor vowed to himself that he wouldn't take any life ever again after TheTime War but there was only two choices in this situation. Get everyone safe tothe space dock and let the Daegon whip out this galaxy or kill the Daegonbefore it has the chance to get to the dock. Both choses were bad but it wasdown to one death verse thousands of deaths if the Daegon gets to the spacedock. "It has to die." The Doctor said before he walked out of the room.
