Chapter 48: Lol at Anyone Who Wants My Husband. He's Mine, Suckers
As soon as I woke up, I noticed that Sawyer was out of bed, getting changed. It looked like he had just taken a shower as well since his hair was a bit damp. It was honestly no surprise to see him out of bed since he still had farm work to do. I didn't mind, but I liked teasing him.
"No, you can't leave me," I said. "I'll be so lonely."
"As much as I would love to just lie in bed with you, I've got to get to work," Sawyer said. "It's an all hands on deck kinda situation since we have a class field trip coming to our farm."
"A field trip?" I asked. "Do you get those often?"
"Pretty much, yeah. The teachers who organize it think it's important for students to learn about farms and where their food is coming from." Sawyer pulled a shirt over his head, then walked over to me and kissed my forehead. "I'll come during lunch to spend some time with you."
"Okay," I said. "Bye. Have fun at work."
Sawyer quickly kissed me one more time before he left. Unfortunately, that now meant that I was extremely bored. I really needed to find a new hobby until I get the okay to horseback ride again. I wasn't someone who just liked staying in bed all day.
So after scrolling through a few videos on my phone, I decided to go join Sawyer on the farm and possibly check him out as he worked. Before that, I went to feed both Paint and Raven as well as let them out into the field so they were not stuck in their stables all day.
I was happy Paint got along with Raven enough for us to let them stay in the same field. Paint had changed a lot since I got here, so I was really happy Mom decided to move us back to Ruralburgh. I did still miss the city from time to time but if I had to personally choose, I would still live here.
I kind of had to anyway since my husband lives here and there was no way he would choose the city over his farm.
Once Paint and Raven were out and satisfied just grazing about, I walked over to the main part of the farm. The class on the field trip was already here. Sawyer's parents were talking to them, giving whatever information they always give to students on field trips.
Sawyer was doing my favourite chore on the farm; unloading hay bales from his truck. And by my favourite, I meant that it was my favourite to watch him do. I got to watch all his muscles. His glorious muscles.
And the best place to check him out was right beside him, so I hopped on top of the fence by him and sat on top of it. "Hiya, cowboy."
Sawyer smiled at me. "Hey. I'm surprised to see you out here."
"I'm an outdoor person, Sawyer," I said. "It shouldn't be that big of a surprise. Besides, you and your arms are out here."
"Me and my arms?" Sawyer asked.
"Yes."
Sawyer chuckled. "Well, at least that means you're out here with me. Just try not to distract me too much."
"No promises."
I didn't distract Sawyer too much, so he was able to unload the hay bales and put them where he needed to soon enough. To take a break, he leaned against the fence, taking off his hat and running his fingers through his sandy blond hair.
And, of course, I just said the first thing that came to my mind. "You're so hot."
Sawyer smiled at me. "Why, thank you, Jamie. You're pretty hot too. Are you fine still sitting up there. It must be hurting your back without any support."
"It's fine," I said, though now that he mentioned it, I was feeling a bit of a pinch in my back.
"Are you sure?" Sawyer asked. "Remember, if you want to be able to horseback ride again, you need to take proper care of yourself. That includes lying in bed or sitting somewhere else if your back is hurting."
I sighed. "I'm tired of lying in bed all day, or even just lounging around the house. I don't like sitting still for too long."
"I know, but it won't be forever," Sawyer said. "Just until you get the okay to go horseback riding again. Or maybe until you can do more physical activity. We can go for walks on the forest trail once you're up to it."
"Yeah, I guess that will be better than nothing."
"Why don't you go sit on the porch for now? You'll technically still be outside, and I'll come over to hang out whenever I have a break."
I nodded, so Sawyer held my hand to help me get off the fence. He gently patted my back before I walked over to the Birch's front porch to sit down on one of the chairs. It was comfy enough to help ease the pain, though I really don't like just sitting here doing nothing.
It was better than staying indoors, though. I could at least watch Sawyer.
And also watch some of the students on the field trip check him out. I didn't blame them. He was very attractive. But jokes on them because he was married to me.
As soon as Sawyer had some free time, he walked over to me. Before sitting down next to me, he asked, "I'm gonna get some lemonade. Want some?"
"Ooh, yes, please."
Sawyer walked inside his family's home and soon came out with two glasses of ice, cold homemade lemonade. He handed one to me and I thanked him before drinking it. The Birch family made a lot of their own homemade drinks and food, and each one of them was delicious.
Sawyer spent quite some time with me before he had to get back to work, but it was better than nothing. I just hoped I would be able to horseback ride or do some sort of physical activity sooner rather than later because I was starting to get way too antsy.
