It's Impossible

Kayla laid in her bed, staring at the ceiling in shock. Those stupid little drug store tests can't be accurate, right? She thought to herself. You bought ten and they're all positive, stupid. Her inner conscious scoffed at her.

There was no way this was happening, it's impossible for her to be pregnant. Kayla's on birth control, they use condoms even though Norman doesn't want to. But somehow, there's a little life growing inside her and shocked is and understatement. She wanted kids, just not right now.

Kayla rested her hands on her stomach and she started to think about how this could've happened. First, she know Norman will most definitely break up with her. Even though Kayla and Norman have talked for a little over a year they have only been official for six months. Him and Helena only separated last year and he has Mingus. What would he want to do with another kid mothered by a woman he's only been dating for half a year.

Kayla feels like she's known Norman forever, but in reality it's only been five years. She had met Norman on the set of The Boondock Saint when her brother, Sean, brought her with him.

At the time, Helena was pregnant with little Mingus who was soon to be born. And although Kayla had a crush on Norman, she pushed it aside knowing that it was wrong and he was starting a family.

It seemed like the more time she spent with her brother, the more she was around Norman as well. The two of them quickly became friends, being close in age, having the same type of personality, along with the same humor and partially similar goals in life.

Through the years Norman and Kayla stayed friends and even worked together on a movie. She would spend time with him, Helena and Mingus, although it was a pain in the chest for her to see them so happy together.

But when Norman and Helen's relationship came spiraling down, Norman came to her. She helped him and consoled him, assuring him that everything would be okay even if they weren't together.

Only a few short weeks after Norman and Helena had officially broken it off, Kayla noticed a change in her and Normans relationship. He always wanted to be with her, talked to her at all times of day and night and most importantly, became flirtatious. His actions confused Kayla until he cleared everything up, admitting that he had feelings for her and asked her out.

For six months here and there Norman would take Kayla out, he treated her like a queen and he knew it, he purposely did it. As much as it pained Kayla to admit it she was sure that this was just a fling, a rebound after Helena and that's the reason why she was shocked when Norman asked her to be his girlfriend.

Now here she is, six months later wondering how she's going to be a single parent. She has gotten motherly instincts from being around Mingus but then again he isn't hers, this is her child, her flesh and blood, Norman's.

From her bedroom Kayla heard her apartment door open and shut. Then she remembered that Norman was coming over for dinner. Yet she hadn't cooked any food and had been lying in bed for hours since she got the results of all ten positive pregnancy test that she had taken through out the day.

Kayla held her breath as her bedroom door opened. Closing her eyes and she heard his voice. "Babe?" Norman called out into the room. She sighed, thinking that was going to be the last time she would hear him call her that.

Norman came around the other side of her bed, laying down and pulling Kayla into his chest. "Hey, are you okay?" He asked softly, thinking that she might not feel well, if he only knew.

Kayla shook her head 'no' and buried her face in his chest. Norman pulled her closer to him, trying to think of what could be wrong with her. Then he remembered around the time that she gets her period, she also get horrible headaches almost to the point of migraines.
