turns out, a week passes by far faster than kaixi expected.
one moment, she'd just created her profile on tva, and the next, it's 5 am and yangyang's greeting her mom on their driveway, with all of her luggage littered across the sidewalk.
"please take care of kai on the way there, dear. you know how she is when it comes to car rides," her mother sighs, shooting a look at her. "you've taken the medicine i gave you for your nausea, haven't you?"
kaixi grumbles under her breath as she struggles to fit in one of her last bags in the vehicle. "gross, mom. i'm not a kid."
her mom rolls her eyes at her and yangyang laughs, "don't worry, mrs. li. we'll be safe."
she smiles at that, and while yangyang moves to help kaixi, she continues talking. "how has your mother been nowadays? it's been a while since we've seen each other."
"she's been fine," he answers as he fits the bag and closes the trunk. "she asked me to send you her regards."
"tell her to visit me sometime! i know we're both lonely, what with both our only kids going off to college and our husbands out on that business trip," the lady suggests.
