"So, she caught on that fast, huh?" Daniel whispered bitterly, his head laying low with his forehead touching his clasped palms. "But Lady Veiltrese's decision was truly puzzling and surprising. I didn't expect she would came up with that idea." Ebiene added from the side. Meanwhile, I stayed quiet while my fingers taps the table, deep in thought. "What else did she say?" Daniel's question cut off my thoughts, "Did she brought up anything else other than the elf?"

I sighed, "She kept the other details vague to me but she's on to something." Daniel responded with an exasperated sigh. "But do you think that she would know that you..." Ebiene didn't finished her sentence. "It's possible. That could be one of the reasons why she cornered you like this. She was fast to take the opportunity." Daniel spoke.

"And even if it wasn't the case, she must have sensed that I could be of use to her."

"What a terrifying woman."bbbb

"This is so troublesome. We should figure out a new strategy."

She really threw me in a difficult situation. I didn't have to trouble myself with her as much as this in my previous live but now this is happening.

"I'll propose a new plan soon. For now, let's take it slow and lay low. We were barely spared." I said and got ready to leave the pavilion. Today was extremely stressful, I want to lock myself in the library. "Oh before I forget," I stopped midway and turned around. "Get things ready, I'll be attending the Knighting Ceremony."

Time flew so fast and the day of Knighting Ceremony has finally come. Ebiene carefully and meticulously dressed me up for the occasion. Daniel picked the garment and all, and well it was not disappointing at least. "You look dashing in that suit." that's the first thing he told me as we arrived in front of the carriage. "Don't flatter yourself too much. You suck at dressing yourself." I answered with a smug and went straight inside of the carriage. He wasn't able to reiterate that and went to sit on the coach box instead. Before the carriage leaves, Ebiene bowed at us, no words said. I looked at her through the window. "Be right here when we get back, okay?" she gave me a slightly surprised look. After that, the carriage started to move and make its long way to the imperial palace.

As usual, my arrival instigated a cacophony of murmurs, and some unpleasant glances. Not that it bothers me, I got used with it. On the flip side of the coin, there were instances when no one noticed me. Neither glance nor murmur directed to me. To have this kind of attention... is much better than the latter.

I only took few glances around the lavishly decorated ceremony hall, checking if I would see someone or something interesting. I saw few of them attending and we only exchanged nods as greetings, while others... let's say I tried not to be in their gaze even though they are probably already aware of my presence.

"Good to see that you came." Daniel and I froze in our spots as we heard her voice. I put up a calm face and slowly faced the owner, she had company this time. "Wouldn't want to miss this momentous occasion of blessing the new guardians under our Goddess Antonias." I answered with a smile and she gave back just as the same. She then turned her attention to Daniel who in respond bowed his head. "It's been a long time, Sir Daniel. I hope you're doing well taking care of my brother." Step-brother. I wish I could tell her that I would do so appreciate if she don't forget adding that crucial word. "I always do my best." he confidently answered as he bowed. For a split second, Veiltrese's company had his lips curved into a grimace after hearing Daniel's words. I share the same sentiment.
