Naruto and Hinata had been eagerly anticipating their first dating anniversary for weeks. They had planned a romantic dinner at their favorite restaurant, followed by a moonlit walk through the park. However, just as they were about to leave, an urgent letter arrived from the Daimyo.
Naruto's expression shifted from excitement to worry as he read the letter. Hinata immediately sensed that something was wrong.
"What is it, Naruto?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern.
Naruto sighed heavily. "I've been given a mission by the Daimyo," he said. "It's urgent, and I have to leave right away."
Hinata's heart sank. She had been so excited to spend the evening with Naruto, but now their plans seemed ruined.
"I'm sorry, Hinata," Naruto said, wrapping a consoling arm around her. "I don't want to leave you like this, but I must go. I promise I'll make it up to you when I return."
Hinata nodded, trying to hide her disappointment. "I understand, Naruto. Your duty comes first."
Naruto quickly packed his bags and departed for the mission, leaving Hinata in their home, feeling a profound sense of loss. Determined to make the best of the situation, she decided to follow through with their plans independently.
When Hinata arrived at the restaurant alone, she couldn't help but feel the emptiness of Naruto's absence. She took a deep breath, trying to focus on enjoying the evening, but her heart wasn't in. The romantic ambiance felt hollow without Naruto by her side.
After dinner, Hinata walked through the park alone under the moonlit sky they had planned to share. She tried to appreciate the serene beauty of the night, but every moment was a reminder of Naruto's absence.
At home, Hinata settled in with a book, hoping to distract herself. As she turned the pages, her mind wandered to Naruto, hoping he was safe and thinking of her.
Meanwhile, Naruto was on his mission, trying to focus on the task. However, his thoughts drifted back to Hinata and the anniversary they were supposed to be celebrating.
"I wish I could be there with you," Naruto muttered. "I hate that today, of all days, this mission had to come up."
"Damn it," he said, recalling the letter from the Daimyo. It explained that he had to go on the mission because a king's daughter had become obsessed with him after he saved her during his training trip with Jiraiya. The princess wouldn't take no for an answer and had pleaded with her father to send for Naruto.
Naruto knew that the Daimyo significantly influenced who could become Hokage. Completing several missions was essential to his dream of becoming Hokage. Additionally, Naruto was driven by his desire to buy Hinata a costly wedding ring and pay for their wedding. Since he had not received any money to win the war or save the world multiple times, taking on missions was his only option. He could have asked for money or sought help but chose not to because it would feel like cheating his ninja way.
As Naruto trudged through the mission, his heart was heavy with the thought of Hinata alone on their special day. He wished he could find a way to balance his duties and his personal life better, but for now, he had to focus on the task at hand.
Upon reaching the king's palace, Naruto was greeted with a grandiosity that only added to his frustration. The princess, who had orchestrated this entire mission, greeted him with an overenthusiastic smile. "Naruto-kun, you're finally here!"
Naruto forced a polite smile, hiding his annoyance. "Yes, I'm here. What's the mission?"
The princess giggled, clearly more interested in his presence than the mission. "Oh, nothing too serious. I just needed some protection while I attended a few royal events."
