The one who shouted this sentence was the person who had just argued with Wang Wei.
At the sudden halt of the machine, he didn't initially intend to blame Wang Wei. But when he looked up and saw Wang Wei standing calmly in the crowd, recalling their recent argument, he blurted it out without thinking.
As soon as he said it, he regretted it. He knew Wang Wei hadn't touched the machine at all. What if they investigated and found out? What would he do?
"I...," with so many people looking at him and Wang Wei, his throat felt dry. He was about to say that he wasn't really sure, but suddenly someone else spoke up too: "Just now, only Wang Wei approached the machine to lift the frames. The machine wouldn't have malfunctioned for no reason. It must have been him who accidentally damaged it."
This was said by the person responsible for managing the machine. His quick agreement was understandable; if they couldn't find someone to blame, and since he was the one who had the most contact with the machine, he might be the one held responsible.
As he worried about this, someone handed him a ladder, and of course, he grabbed onto it.
Wang Wei furrowed his brows and coldly questioned the first person who accused him, "Are you sure you really saw me touch this machine?" His green eyes fixed on the person, icy and piercing like a sword about to stab into their heart.
"I...," initially, the person who accused Wang Wei felt pressured under his gaze and took two steps back, licking his lips nervously with a dry throat.
"Think carefully before you speak," Wang Wei stepped closer, his voice low and oppressive.
"I... I didn't see very clearly," unable to meet Wang Wei's gaze directly, it was hard to explain how much pressure his imposing demeanor actually exerted. Under Wang Wei's scrutiny, the person panicked and immediately changed his tone.
"Wang Wei, are you still trying to intimidate people? Let him speak for himself!" Seeing the blame slipping away from him, the person who initially accused Wang Wei turned the tables, causing anxiety for the machine manager who blurted out the words to intervene.
Wang Wei stood in place, looking at the person who initially accused him. "With so many people here, do you think I scared him all by myself? Why don't you ask him? Is he the type to change his statement immediately just because I scared him a bit?" As he spoke, he redirected his gaze back to the person who pointed fingers at him in the first place.
The accuser regretted it deeply. Why did he let his temper get the best of him? In his mind, he acknowledged that he did, but with so many people present, he couldn't keep changing his stance repeatedly. He could only muster the courage to say, "I really didn't see it clearly. I was worried about the machine, and when I got anxious, I just shouted."
"Did you hear that?" Wang Wei turned his attention back to the person in charge of the machine.
"Even so, you were the closest to the machine. It was working fine, and as soon as you approached, it broke. If it's not you, who else could it be?" The accuser stared at Wang Wei.
Wang Wei gave him a disdainful look. "There were more people close to the machine just now. If you say that, then everyone shares the responsibility. If the machine breaks just because someone gets close, it's too delicate. Is it shy or something? People approach it, and it gets all bashful!"
As Wang Wei said this, many people in the crowd couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"What are you all doing? Why is everyone not working and gathered here!" As Wang Wei finished his words, the deputy director and the factory director happened to arrive at the workshop for an inspection, expecting to take a look at the new automatic stamping machine. Unexpectedly, the workshop was in chaos, with everyone huddled together instead of working.
