(Pov: Naomi, around the time Minh and Max are asleep)
It was very silent when we exited the house, not a single sound echoing out. I'm very glad I Was kind of like a scapegoat. In the sense that The main reason the house was less mean, and Tyler was less agitated for me.. I'm glad he knew the importance of this happening. Despite the outcome being what it was, he needed closure. Just one final goodbye to his mother. Accepting the fact that she will never accept me and Tyler for who we are and who we could be. No matter what, her standards would always be too high.
We dashed into the car "Hey Ty, thank you for doing this." My throat was clenching making it harder to speak. The tension causes liquid to form in the waterline of my eye. "It wasn't easy for you but it had to be done... I'm so sorry." Then my eyes enclosed, causing a flow of moist fluid coming to form under my eyes onto the cheek of my face. I then started to reprimand and stammer over my previous statements. Repeating sorry, now with the meaning of "I'm sorry for getting emotional." Everything was too much to bear so my body jutted into his arms giving him a cozy hug. He unbuckles his seatbelt that he previously clicked his seatbelt on which allowed more wiggle room for me to get closer. As time passed slowly, I noticed that my heartbeat and heavy breathing slowed down. After calming down, Tyler and I buckled our seatbelt back in and got on the road. "Well Ty, we're going back home right?" I said it in an inquisitive tone because I was genuinely unsure whether we were going straight home or not.
He took a moment to collect his thoughts since he was on the road now. He eventually responded "Uh.. is it ok if we book a hotel room for one night before going home?" I then quickly respond saying "of course, but Why..." The music playing from my phone was the only thing you could hear for a minute. Eventually he said "I guess it's just that being around this place again isn't all that bad. " Continuing, he said "I guess I just need some time before leaving." I gave him a pat on his shoulder as a sign of approval. A few minutes passed of me scrolling through apps on my phone until I felt a little peck on the cheek from Tyler. I was scared for a second because I thought Tyler was driving while not looking at the road. Until I noticed the red light illuminating over us. Tyler saw the fear in my face and we both laughed it off. On the way, I see the gas station we stopped at and the restaurant we went to before going to Tyler's house. "Hey Ty, I said it already, but this was a good experience to have." "I wouldn't have missed this for the world." He then gave a nod of approval as we kept moving onward.
We then peel into the parking lot of a hotel named "Ocular Oasis Hotel". The name couldn't be more logical, as the hotel was a visual spectacle. Glowing bright lights couldn't be clearer as they shine through the night sky in beauty. "This place always freaked me out a bit when I was younger," Tyler says whilst taking the keys out of the engine. "I don't know, it just always felt off to me." Honestly I understood why, this place seems pretty stimulating for younger people. There was a party by the pool in the distance, and there was faint music that you could hear at the event. People usually don't party that late. I embraced it, however, and we walked in with him into the golden revolving doors.
"Welcome to Ocular Oasis Hotel, How may I be of service to you?" The peppy attendant asks as we approach the front desk. The bright chandelier above us blinded me and Tyler. "Yeah, I just want to order a room for the night," Tyler says while pulling out his wallet. "Will that be a double or a single?" She asks, looking at the both of us. "We're fine with a single!" I chime in, giving me a playful smirk. Funny enough Tyler didn't bat an eye at what I was trying to do. "Ok, that will be 63.15." Handing over the money, she hands Tyler a small room key. "Your room will be on the third floor." She finishes, as I start walking to the nearby elevator. The smell of prime rib and lobster follows us to the gold-trimmed elevator. Tyler reaches out to press the button, which I reach before he does. "Sorry, I had to press it."
